Backstory

NOTE: Lucielle's twin, Lukaelle, will be referred to by chosen nickname and they/them pronouns in her backstory. At this point in time in the two's story, Lucielle does not yet know Lukaelle is trans but of course I'd still like to respect Lukaelle's identity in this section best I can. In all other cases Lukaelle uses she/her pronouns, thank you <3.

CHILDHOOD

Lucielle and Lukaelle were born as twins to divine parents, Luka being born about a half hour later making Luce the older of the two. As parents of twins often do, they were kept together at almost every moment of their early childhood until they were able to take care of themselves individually. Those first few years would end up being most of the bonding time the two would ever really have.

As they grew to be their own person, Lucielle already wanted little to do with just about everyone. Even as a baby she was a bit tough to care for since she didn't really want to be messed with, but still required her needs to be taken care of. As she grew older her parents began to grow more concerned about their daughter's sociability. For a while they thought something might be wrong with her, but in time through a combination of research/asking around and just general observation they eventually learned that's really just how she was.

Her parent's took a while to notice but any time she could have been playing with the other kids or even sitting around the adults, she was always found trying to follow bunnies and find squirrels instead. Animals seemed to take a liking to her as well so often times she'd even be able to pet wildlife that no one else could usually even get five feet from. This realization lead them to just accept her as she was, after all she wasn't lonely at least. She just seemed to enjoy different company.

ADOLESCENCE

Entering her early teen years, not much about her had changed. Lucielle continued to help watch over Lukaelle when it was absolutely needed or if they had ever needed help with their homework or anything of that sort, but otherwise their interactions with one another remained limited. Even at this age Luka was still very attached to their mother as well which was another factor in this disconnect. Things had continued on this way up until the tragic period of time where the twins' mother had fell ill with a curse and eventually passed away.

Luka, who as mentioned was extremely close with their mother, had extreme diffuculty dealing with the loss. Luce did her best at the time to console her twin, but most of this responsibility fell on the shoulders of their grandmother who had also been living with them as Lucielle was struggling with the loss in her own way. Lucielle may have always seemed indifferent to everything but she almost seemed even more emotionless towards her mother's death. Already not really having a grasp on how other people work, she was unsure on how to even process or react to the loss of a parent. She couldn't make sense of how she was supposed to feel or that this even would have been a possibilty for them, as angels are far more immortal than most other humanoid life forms.

The twins' father was of course not immune to the loss either. This was the woman who he had spent many decades together with and shared all the highs and lows of life with. He cherished her, so ultimately her death drove him to move to the mountains for a while so that hopefully he could recollect himself. He had every intention of coming back, but being surrounded by a house full of her memory when the wounds in his heart were still so fresh, he felt it would be best to step away for a while and left the house to their grandmother to watch over until his return. Lucielle then tagged along with him, hoping that the change of scenery might help her to make sense of these new thoughts and emotions she was foreign in dealing with. Secretly as well she'd have to admit that the mountains piqued her curiosity and the thought of being surrounded by nature was very enticing to her. Luka on the other hand stayed behind with their grandmother. She was going to need someone to look after her as well and unlike the other two, being surrounded by what was left behind helped them to heal more than it hurt them.

Several years passed and eventually their father did heal enough to be able to return back home permanently. By now Lucielle was old enough to be off on her own and although she may not have fully processed and worked through the death of her mother, she was much happier on the mountains than she had ever been in her life. She asked her father if it were alright for her to remain there on her own, and again she was old enough and he could see how the surroundings were a benefit to her wellbeing, so really he had no reason to say no. He gladly let her take over the mountain cottage and turn it into her own place as long as she truly would be happy there.

From then on she began to slowly bond more and more with the wildlife on the mountain. Without a parent keeping her out of "trouble" she also began to explore more of the forests that stretched across the ridges. The deeper she went the more unusual and magical the animals found there became and the larger variety of creatures she gained the experience in handling. Fairies, sprites, dragons, griffins, nymphs, and even life forms many humans would never know by name fell under her care as she took it upon herself to watch over all that lived in the mountains.

PRESENT DAY

Still today she resides on those mountains where she watches over the life forms that live there. She's seen her father and grandmother a few times and they've come to visit her a handful of occassions as well, but she sill has not seen Luka since they were younger. Aside from the occasional visits with family, she hardly ever comes into contact with others aside from going to markets in the towns below for necessities. As always, she's more than comfortable with this way of life and wouldn't change it for anything have the opportunity arise.

Relationships

Lukaelle Markusson [ Twin ]

Luce and Luka are twins, though despite that are suprisingly not that close with one another. Luka has always been really shy and Luce just not one to be around people so they just never interacted much growing up. Luce would of course help look after Luka when needed or their parent's needed an extra hand and she still cares about Lukaelle a lot but aside from that they don't have much of a bond.

Cyrine [ Close Friend ]

Lucielle never would have though she'd ever actually meet a real unicorn, and that when she did she'd almost regret it. Cyrine likes to torment Lucielle every day about how excited and out-of-character she became when they first met, but putting his pestering aside Luce does still enjoy having Cyrine around even if she's not willing to continue to admit it.

Marshmallow's Clan [ Friends/Companions ]

Marshmallow and his clan are some of the main dragons she looks after ever since she's come across the enchanted mirror within the mountain forests. They can take care of themselves just fine as well, but the clan still enjoys when Lucielle traveles through the mirror to visit. Sometimes even traveling through the mirror to come visit themselves.
