About

Quiet • Determined • Loyal • Resolute

Zhiqian is young, as far as dragons are concerned, at only two thousand years old or so. He's a Tianlong living in the remote, nearly inaccessable palace in the mountains, which he guards from thieves and trespassers. Once he kept the inhabitants of the palace safe, but since the palace is now empty he instead remains asleep, only rising to keep the monuments of their life from harm or theft.

Zhi is quiet, used to speaking when spoken to. But he loves to listen, and will let anyone bend his ear about something they're passionate about. When asked about himself, he's never quite sure what to say, and becomes a bit awkward. But people under his care will never find a better protector and a more dedicated friend. Given a task (by someone with the authority to give him one) he will see it through to the end no matter what.

Summary

From very near his birth, Zhi was raised in the palace he was meant to protect. He remembers nothing of his parents or before arriving at the palace. Still, he felt in his soul that to protect and serve the family and people that resided within was his duty - he was born to do it, it was his purpose in life, and he was proud to do so. For nearly a thousand years he protected generations of inhabitats, keeping them safe from harm and the threats of the outside world beyond the mountains. He fought against armies, outsed assassins, and chased off demons and beasts. The safety of his family was his pride and joy, until a plague swept through the palace, silently and quickly killing every resident within. Zhi could do nothing to prevent it.

Deprived of his family and his purpose, Zhi locked himself inside of the empty palace with the remnants of the people who lived there, wallowing in his depair and grief for nearly another thousand years, only waking when an intruder dared set foot in the ancient palace, taking out his sorrow on whoever was foolhardy enough to think they could take treasures from the palace.

He remains there still, in self-imposed exile. He knows little of the world beyond the palace walls, though given the opportunity to work past his grief, he'd love to experience it and see what people often told him about the world.

Design

• The marking on his neck, arms, and legs have no set pattern or design, they're just kind of line-y and dark. They can be drawn basically any way you want.

• His dragon form can be drawn with or without the sash.

• The red spikes down his neck are off to the side and symmetrical; there are two rows of them going down his neck on either side of the mane.

• He has a few golden earrings and a little rectangle accessory. The rectangle is only on the left side.

Trivia

• Despite being old by most people's standards, Zhi lacks experience and has a youthful energy and desire to explore and learn. He's easily fascinated by mundane things.

• The sound of someone coughing makes him incredibly nervous and uneasy. He'll drag anyone to a medic at any sign of illness, no matter how slight.

• Zhiqian's growth is somewhat stunted from his hibernation for a few centuries. Other dragons his age are nearly twice his size. His human form is alsofairly short at 5'6.
