Caleb is nervous and awkward. While he is hesitant to make quick decisions. The choices he makes that will take longer to affect his life are made without much thought(ex. Participating in the Kanto World Tournament). Caleb is very blunt and open about his history. He feels no shame for the burns he acquired after the accident. Caleb is very passionate about Pokémon care and anything else he finds interesting. He is very gentle with anything he's doing, seemingly always afraid he will break it or ruin it. No matter how confident he is about it.

Caleb comes from a family of fire type specialists Living in Snowpoint city, Sinnoh. As such, Caleb has learned about all kinds of fire type Pokémon, and he enjoyed all of it. Up until he turned 12 when an accident with one of his parents' Pokémon occurred while the two were playing. While Caleb always has understood, it was an accident and the Pokémon never meant to harm him. He still grew to fear fire type Pokémon in general. After the event Caleb found he no longer wanted to raise fire types. He began to distance himself from both his family and the Pokémon he had cared for, giving them back to his parents. After a few years of little change in his fear. His parents decided to give him a buneary named flip in hopes the Pokémon would give him comfort and support. While Caleb improved with Flips help he still worried he wouldn’t be able to handle caring for and training fire type pokemon. He spent a large amount of time watching his older sister train with her Pokémon. And felt that with his fear of fire types he may never be able to live up to the rest of his family. So after he heard about the Kanto Tournament through flyers and hearing his older sister talk briefly about it being strange while having dinner. He made the choice to leave home and go participate. In hopes to prove to himself he didn’t have to follow along with the rest of his family and specialize in fire type pokemon. His parents while not fully understanding why they supported Caleb on his new quest.
