Mateo was always the “terribly loud” child. He enjoyed attention, though he would often receive negative attention along with positive. It didn’t make much difference to him. It made him thrive.
As he grew older, his behavior became more provocative, but as his parents had more children and took on other responsibilities, it was hard to keep him as in check as they used to. He wore revealing clothes, though he would often change when arriving at school, since he wasn’t daft enough to think to leave the house in the outfits he put together. He began to grow an interest in music and enjoyed singing or rapping along to his favourite songs. He liked to bowl, impress others with his ability to juggle, and had a guilty pleasure in magical girl shows.
Since he had little friends due to his seemingly abrasive personality, he struggled to connect with others. He continued to do his little acts for attention and was regularly reprimanded for doing so. He didn’t mind it much. He skipped classes to find people to chat with or boast to and would frequently disrupt class to joke around. People found him funny enough, if not just because he seemed to embarrass himself. He struggled in school not only because of his desire for attention but also due to his issues with focusing.
Joining the Band
Eventually, he met Jude. Jude was receptive enough to Mateo’s behaviour, more so than most people, and eventually the two formed a more developed school friendship. Since Jude could play drums and Mateo could sing, the two hatched a plan to start a band. Recruiting the other members was a struggle at first, but it worked out for them.
Mateo and Jude continued to manage the group after its creation. Jude focused more on online stuff and Mateo focused more on IRL stuff. Of course, the other members began to contribute as well.
