"I can count the number of times Celeste and I've seen eye-to-eye on a single paw, I think, but that doesn't mean I love her any less. We've just always had different ways of going about things, I guess. I mean, I'd be lying if I said hers didn't put me on edge... but, you know, she'd probably say the same thing about mine. At the end of the day, we're all the other has, after all." Siblings.
"Ah, yeah, good ol' King Great. He took me and my sister in when he had nowhere else to go—gave me a chance to actually /do/ something with my life, instead of just... I don't know... /rotting away/. I'll always be grateful for that. I'm just... sad I couldn't do more for him. I won't slip up again."
⚰️
"Vanity? She's my charge! ...kind of. I, uh, look out for everyone in the Grand Expanse, obviously, but she's basically the reason Great knighted me in the first place. If I'm being honest, though, she stopped /needing/ my help forever ago... but then again, what do I know? At least it's nice spending time with her. Sometimes it even feels like a break."
"Possibly the most infuriating lion to walk the Grand Expanse. It's about time they choke on their own ego. If he's really blessed by the Great King, why bother wasting time following around someone who doesn't need her protection?"
"Queen Solemnity's always been a bit... /severe/ but she means well! ...I think."
"Well, aren't you a curious little thing? What was Great thinking?"
"Slick's never been a fan. I don't know if he thinks we're wandering trash or something but he's had it out for me and my sister since the start. He thinks I'm too stupid to realize what he pulled that day but he's wrong—I know he was trying to get rid of me. Whatever, doesn't matter now. I don't know if he's warmed up to me, decided I wasn't worth the hassle, or realized he'd missed his window but he hasn't tried anything since. Good. Now, all he has to do is stay away from Eternal."
“I honestly don’t see what King Great saw in this… Air-headed lion. They're constantly annoying and Great had the utter GALL just to make them heir against MY daughter just to piss me off! Not only did that ruin all my plans for my glorious future-- but this brat is so smug about it too! I'm going to tear that ugly smug grin off their face, or better yet I'll shove them against something they can't dodge from!"
"The Queen's Daughter, Quill's mother, Vanity's aunt, and—most importantly—Loyal's royal snuggle-bug. What more could I possibly say about Our Lady Majesty...? A lot, actually. If Solemnity and Great are the backbone of the pride, then she's the heart. Pretty sure there isn't a cub here who hasn't called her mom at some point... well, uh, besides me and Celeste, of course. It'd take someone as loving as her to tolerate Slick. Don't tell her I said that last part, though."
“Stellar is such great company to be around! They’re always positive and funny, and I’m glad my father brought them in the pride. I’m also glad that they’re friends with Vanity, she needs a friend who is willing to push and help her... But I worry that their bickering is more rude than they intend to. I definitely need to talk to my mother about this.”
"Oh, Loyal? She just kinda showed up one day and has been clinging to Majesty ever since, haha. Kidding, kidding. She's a Knight alongside me and Mighty. Pretty damn good at it, too!"
"Stellar is a comedian and witty young lion. To be honest, I don't understand why King Great made him an heir, but the King must've seen something in him. I want to see how they'll improve and maybe I'll get to see what King Great saw in Stellar."
"Honestly? I'm worried about him. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know—I'm only a season or two older but after the third or fourth 'perilous adventure' you start noticing a pattern, alright? I don't know if he's doing it for attention or if he straight-up thinks we don't care—either way, he's got a lot of cats here who'd miss him whether he realizes it or not, and I hope one day that's enough for him...for his sake. Until then, though, I'll be right there to catch him. Sometimes literally."
"Tch. Remind me why dad let that twat in here again? It's not like he's part of the pride, and certainly not of my family. They need to leave mother and Vanity frickin' alone at once..."
"Ah, Perse... bet she thinks I'm too naive for my own good, haha—pretty sure Celeste would agree! We're closer than most lions might suspect. She's probably the closest thing I have to family outside of my sister, now that I think about it... but only 'cause calling a lady five times your age 'bestie' feels weird, pft." There's a pregnant pause. "...I know she hasn't been great with Eternal in... Fangs of The King, I wish she was... but he's got the whole pride looking out for him—I don't know if the same can be said for cats like me and her."
"A gifted young thing. Pride seems to envy them somewhat. Honestly? Cub's a bit too soft-hearted for their own health, but they're a good cub. Hope they end up okay in a world full of backstabbers and ill-doers."
"Gallant's always had a good head on her shoulders. We grew up together, technically speaking, but I was so busy we never really hung out. Guess we've got a lot of time to catch up now that she's a Squire, eh?"
"Stellar is pretty young to be a knight... and they work so much more harder than I do too. I try to help them out when I can so they don't have so much on their shoulders. I hope that means we're friends, that means we're friends right?"
"Marigold's real good at keeping the cubs entertained and out from under our paws, haha. He and Gallant have been all over each other since day one, too, which I think's sweet. Our paths tend not to cross beyond that, though. I don't really have time for stories. I can't be caught slacking, you know?"
"Ah, Stellar! I've met them, quite too aloof for my liking but they have a good heart. A good friend with my beloved i do hope. They've never come into my den for a story yet hm... Next time you see them send them over for a story!"
"Always exciting when there's new arrivals! I think her and Star did the right thing, settling down until Gift's at least a little older, not that anyone asked. She likes my sense of humor and I can respect hers—any lion making light of a shitty situation, or name in this case, is one after my own heart."
The big lioness grins widely. "HA! Great kid! I like 'em! Funny and got great spirit! My Star says they got to take care of themselves though and she's never wrong!"
