Boone was an only child to his parents. From the moment he was born, his parents had mapped out his entire life. Describing them as helicopter parents would do little justice to all the suffocation Boone experienced growing up. They would make Boone study for exams in order to get scholarships to private academies. Everything to ensure their son would have a successful future— at the cost of his childhood. Boone on the other hand was more focused with toy figures or reading comics. All activities his parents would disapprove of. Boone hated studying— he hated his parents forcing him to be inside when he just wanted to play. Talking back wasn’t even an option, as they would ground him and take away what little freedom he had. When Boone reached the end of middle school, he had developed an interest in music.
He would skate with his friends at the park and talk about becoming famous one day. This was the only time Boone was able to express himself and be free of his parents. Once he reached high school, Boone had become more defiant to his parents. He began pursuing his interests and letting his hair grow. Since he knew his parents wouldn’t give him anything, he worked at a local movie theater on weekends to buy his own guitar.
And so he would. Boone wrote his own songs in his spare time when he wasn’t at the park skating with his friends. By his senior year, the relationship with his parents had worsened. A heated argument began when his mother found remnants of marijuana in his room. His father broke his guitar and tossed his skateboard. They pulled Boone out of school and he finished the rest of the year home schooled. This act made Boone harbor disdain for his parents. No matter how many times he tried to explain himself, they would never budge. “Not our son, he would never.” In his first year of college, Boone would make the choice to drop out and leave home. As he was now legally an adult, he was able to free himself from his parents. Despite their pleas, Boone would do just that. Currently, Boone is rooming with his best friend Casey while working at a record shop. Even though he is living paycheck to paycheck, he is finally able to do what he wants and be his own person.
