  Across the vast expanse of CYBERSPACE, it's not uncommon to see a flash of green against the blue hues of the city. That's An, working tirelessly to keep the city free of nasty viruses! She's always on the job, with copies of herself spread all around the city, eliminating viruses whenever she sees them. Rest easy knowing that wherever you choose to go on the internet, you have An watching out for you behind the scenes!

  That said, An is physically unable to go beyond the border into the Dark Web. The system prevents her, and she hates that it does. She would love nothing more than to cut all viruses off at their source... but that doesn't appear to be possible. She's tried.

ABILITIES

  An carries a few unique abilities to aid her in her constant battles against viruses and malware. The first of which is obviously the ability to eradicate said viruses. Upon touching an infected source of code with her bare hands, she will be able to gradually 'cleanse' the code, effectively dissolving the virus from the outside in. The rate at which cleansing takes place depends on the strength and size of the targeted virus. If An were to let go of the virus or physical contact was broken some other way, the cleansing would stop, allowing the virus a chance to regenerate until contact is made again. The earlier she catches a virus, the better, but every so often one will evade her for long enough that it becomes quite the battle to take it down.

  She is also able to duplicate herself, a trait that normally only viruses carry. Think of An's duplicates like a hivemind... each one is able to speak and move independently, but they all share a mental link, effectively making them one unit. An can also create and delete duplicates at any time. Technically there's no set limit for how many duplicates she can have; however, the more she makes, the more strain it puts on her code. Because of this, she normally only keeps a few hundred duplicates active at a time... just enough to keep decent watch over CYBERSPACE.

  The last ability she has is the ability to float through the air. An is almost never seen with both of her feet on the ground, as she finds traversing the city much easier when not bound by her legs.

PAST

  As Dark Web's influence grew, so did the need for a way to combat the viruses being released from his side of the city. There was no way Net could fulfill that defense on his own... he had never existed for that purpose. So the CYBERSPACE system created something to be that defense.

  That something was An. She was created directly by the wider CYBERSPACE system as a universal antivirus protocol, capable of learning and acting on her own. She was immediately aware of her purpose upon waking up in CYBERSPACE, and after a short period of learning her abilities (and introducing herself to a very confused Net) she got right to work.

  Ever since then she's constantly been on patrol, with her duplicates scattered all across the endless city.

Relationships

Net  [ coworker ]

  An has known Net since the day the system brought her into being. She holds some level of respect for him, considering he's her senior and all. That said, she often finds herself a fair bit annoyed by his behavior, but she's picked up on some of his slang over the years and reluctantly sprinkles it into conversations with him. She doesn't go out of her way to check in on him, but the times he flags one of her duplicates down she usually stops to say hello. An knows how lonely he can get, after all.

  She does use her floating ability to get a height advantage, though.

  Why is Net stopping her from cleansing this one? Why is he protecting this one? Viruses are viruses, and viruses are dangerous. What makes this one any different?

Dark Web  [ scum ]

  Oh, does she hate the Dark Web. An doesn't understand why the system won't let her into that side of the city, but she stopped trying years ago. She rarely interacts with the man, since she isn't often near his border anymore. She would rather keep watch over more heavily populated areas of the city and not waste valuable duplicates.

  That said, she's wholly unaware of the truth about how Dark Web came to be. All Net told her is that Dark Web is a threat, and the conversation was left there.
