Mars is a tyrannical schemer with aspirations to match Edge in reputation, which may or may not result in unwanted attention from the equally nefarious King. However, whereas Edge can at least attest to having some familial loyalty to his closest relatives and mate, Mars has proven that he does not have time for such trivial matters.

After his brother, King Jupiter, died from a mysterious disease that ravaged the pride of the Eventide Gorge, Mars - as Knight - stepped up to rule alongside Vesper, Jupiter's Queen. The two shared what appeared to be a harmonious relationship, but Vesper was sadly unaware that Mars and their actual mate, Meadowsweet of Red Stone, were slowly plotting her demise and that of her daughter, Vesta, In the end, the two were successful in killing Vesper but Vesta managed to escape the Gorge. She was then discovered and taken in by Duststorm's Traveller band.

Meanwhile, Mars ascended to the throne and Meadowsweet - as Venus - took her place by their side as their Queen. Both of them now tirelessly hunt Vesta, whose existence threatens their legitimacy to the throne.
