Several people find themselves on a mysterious place called Tortilla Island, with no memories as to how they got there or how to get out. They are unable to die, and are constantly threatened by supernatural beings, powerful mobs, and a mysterious shadow government simply known as The Organization.

Arrival to the island:
Much like everyone else, t!Kabber doesn't know how he got to Tortilla Island, nor why he's there.
As an angel from the Aether, however, he decided he must have been sent there by the Sun for some sort of mission. Built the Church of Appleheart at the top of a mountain as a way to try to contact the Aether, but all attempts failed.
Using his knowledge about the occult, he immediately performed seances in an attempt to contact the supernatural beings terrorizing the other islanders.

Though he sometimes butted heads with the other islanders, he did care about all of them, and wanted to get into their good graces. His love for gold was not out of greed, but because it reminded him of the Aether (he used it to build his church).

When he first arrived, he realized with horror that one of his four wings was missing, and he couldn't remember how it happened. He feared he'd done something bad enough to warrant falling from grace, but with no memories (and his unwavering loyalty of the Aether) he didn't want to believe it.

Chunk Hole arc:
Soon after his arrival to the island, Kabber was offered a job by a fellow islander. In exchange for gold, he would help the TV-headed robot named Rat to dig out "the Chunk Hole"- a large hole all the way to bedrock. The two became close friends, and Rat expressed interest in joining the Church of Appleheart.

A supernatural force sent more and more waves of mobs the closer to the bottom he got, but finally, with a lot of help, he reached his goal. What they found at the bottom was an unopenable "tomb".

Rat then received a note (supposedly from the company that created him) telling him to go to a certain location and leave all the books detailing his findings there. When Rat (suspicious of the note's true author) refused, he was attacked by an entity known as "the Glitch" and subsequently kidnapped in front of Kabber, Isa, and Aibee. Kabber could not reach him in time, and blamed himself, the org, and the other two present for their inability to save him.
