Closed-off and reclusive
Elliot opens up about very little and has trouble letting other people into his life. He is not rude, but he does not give much to work with.

As much as Elliot likes to pretend he's unaffected, he cares deeply for the ones around him. He is unlikely to say it, but he will show his affection through acts of service.
Apprehensive and confused stickler
Elliot likes to follow rules, but he can't explain why he follows them. He feels an immense amount of guilt and regret whenever he breaks or bends rules, even when its justified, or when there's not even any rules.
Stoic and repressed
Elliot comes across as unaffected and solid as stone, but he just bottles up all of his emotions. He is especially repressed sexually and romantically because of internalized homophobia. Because of his facade of stoicism, Elliot comes across as much drier and blander than he actually is.
Backstory
Elliot was born February 27th, 1950. He grew up in a nuclear family dynamic with his parents and two siblings: his younger sister Janet and his younger brother Vinny. Elliot's father enforced a lot of expectations onto Elliot about his future career and relationships. He died when Elliot was 10. Without the constraints of his father, Elliot went into private investigation instead of manufacturing or business. Throughout his adult life, Elliot has felt very isolated with little friends outside of his co-workers and limited contact with family. Elliot took a hiatus from work in 1973, and returned in 1977 with lighter cases. He then met Evelyn, a public defender who sought out his work for gathering evidence. They married in 1980.
