Vētra is a young adult female RainWing-NightWing hybrid with majority RainWing heritage. She lives in the RainWing village and works as a freelance artist.

Vētra is a dragon of mixed tribehood, having a RainWing mother and a RainWing-NightWing hybrid father. Overall, she appears much more like a RainWing than like a NightWing, though her longer neck and tail spines, as well as her patches of non-camouflagable scales, are telling of her NightWing blood. Her scales that cannot camouflage are a dark, purple-y blue in color and she shifts those that can change color to match the rest at almost all times, though it is not uncommon for them to briefly flash other colors when she is overcome with intense emotions. At rest, her color-shifting scales are a lime green. Along her face, body, and tail, she has a stripe of brighter, light blue scales, and her spines and claws are darker than any of her scales. Her eyes are hazel, and due to her nearsightedness, she wears a pair of circular glasses at all times, which are secured in place with cords attached to two rings she wears on her horns. The ventral sides of her wings and frills, though fully able to shift colors, at most times display a cloudly, rainy night sky scene. The star markings within them are reflective in the right lighting.

Vētra is very happy-go-lucky and optimistic. She is always looking on the bright side of things and is good at appreciating the little things in life. She is intelligent and good at problem solving, but not very socially adept. She's super clumsy and kind of a doof.

Skillset

• Artistic Ability: Vētra is a freelance artist with experience mostly in drawing and painting, as well as a few other mediums she is still learning. Although she mostly finds work in the Rainforest Kingdom, her home, she has created artwork for dragons across all of Pyrrhia.

Natural Abilities

• Corrosive Projectile Venom: Vētra has the ability to spray corrosive black venom out of her long front fangs. While spraying venom, Vētra's jaw unhinges to allow room for her fangs to extend forward. Her venom is able to quickly melt away at any organic material and can only be neutralized with the venom of a relative. Due to being a hybrid, Vētra's venom is slightly weaker than average.
• Color-Shifting Scales: Some of Vētra's scales are able to change colors on command, or based on her current mood, by bending the light around them. Lime green scales are the default, as is typical of any RainWing, however—like most others—she has a favorite color arrangement that she usually displays. As a necessary condition of being able to shift scale colors, she must absorb enough sunlight, otherwise her scales will appear dull or unable to change color. Due to being a hybrid, Vētra is technically chimeric in the sense that only certain patches of her scales, spread randomly across her body, can shift colors (and are, by extension, the default lime green). The rest of her scales are dark blue in color. She almost always displays her camouflagable scales in a way that blends in with the rest; however, some emotion-induced colors occasionally show through by accident. Her frills and the membrane of her wings, however, are fully able to shift color, though they will always contain the bright star-like speckles characteristic of NightWings on their ventral sides.
• Prehensile Tail: Vētra has a prehensile tail that may act much like an extra limb, which is particularly helpful in navigating through the dense rainforest treetops.
• Night Vision: Vētra is able to see exceptionally well in the dark, when she is most typically awake.

Weaknesses

• Nearsightedness: Vētra is nearsighted and requires a pair of glasses with a relatively strong perscription to see.

• Vētra was my primary sona during my time in the Wings of Fire fandom. Presently, she is for the most part a retired character, though she is still important to me as a representation of my younger self.
