Profile
Osmanthus
Overview
An Arbiter in direct contact with the God of War, Osmanthus is a feared and respected upholder of Alcantara's laws in accordance to the Enchiridion.
Often dubbed "The Adjudicator", Osmanthus tracks down and interrogates various entities that have broken universal laws and sends them to Orquidice for their sentencing. While assumedly all business, Osmanthus has a soft spot for innocence and an interest of those that bend rules in order to protect those that cannot protect themselves. Unlike his sister or the other Arbiters, Osmanthus finds himself frequently amongst the people he's tasked with watching over - even if they don't know he's there themselves.
I don't appreciate you making of mess of things and withholding evidence. I do, however, commend your stupidity in getting caught.

Demeanor
While extremely serious and focused during work, Osmanthus is far more relaxed during his off hours. Unfortunately, he's got a rather serious case of resting bitch face and often appears too intimidating to approach. That is until something interesting catches his eye. Once something has caught his attention, he won't leave it alone any time soon - whether it's an item or a person. His fixations are helpful during investigations, but he can be quite embarrassed by them outside of work.
Oz also has a habit of organizing everything around him when he's stressed or nervous. Not so much that it's compulsory, but just enough to where it might be the only time you can recognize he's got something on his mind.
Osmanthus isn't *bad* at communication, but he isn't entirely *good* at it either. While he works and in formal settings, he's relatively well versed. In more lax and casual settings, he's a little more awkward and can feel out of place. Most of this behavior is thanks to him taking a reserved and detached approach to most people. It makes his job a lot easier when he's got less of a connection to the people he's supposed to monitor.
However, Oz *does* like talking with others and building relationships with them. He isn't good at expressing his own wants, but both Jett and Crymson have helped him get used to voicing them - each in their own ways.
Contray to his appearance and most recognizable behaviors, Osmanthus is a bit of a hopeless romantic. When he's in love (and boy is he) it shows in his body language and unconscious actions. Most notably, the way he'll rub his cheek against his loved ones. It's rather cute to see it happen subconsciously; he could be in the middle of a conversation and lean his head ever so slightly over to bump against Crymson's shoulder.
Unfortunately, as unconsciously open and affectionate as he can be, Osmanthus is awful at gathering the courage to actually *say* what he's feeling. It ties back into the lack of skill in communication: he's nervous about expressing his romantic attraction and wants because he feels as though he's not allowed (or at least isn't supposed to) have such feelings for others. He's gotten much better at expressing his feelings, but there's always that underlying worry that he's not doing everything right.

Design notes
- Prefers to keep the majority of his hair away in a braid. It's a little longer than it looks because of this.
- Only dresses formally for important events, such as hearings or festivals. Though he will dress similarly when in battle as his armor contains some elements of his formal clothing.
- His claws are retractable and he will keep them mostly retracted in casual settings.
- Osmanthus's markings are extremely similar to Orquidice's markings. The only one that is extremely different is the one on Osmanthus's spine as it contains a sealed eye of the Enchiridion within it.

Relationships
Aggressive and ill-tempered, Nymphaea is one of the hardest Arbiters to get along with - even Osmanthus has difficulty dealing with his sister at times. However, he's always regarded her as one of the strongest, capable, and efficient of the Arbiters.
As much as he cares for and trusts her, Nymphaea was in part responsible for the ambush that led to him crash landing in Zainara and lied during his trial in order to have him expelled. Though this ruse was found out and Nymphaea is in a rehabilitation state (thanks to Osmanthus speaking up on her behalf), Osmanthus still has a bit of difficulty trusting her completely.
What started as mutual distrust has turned into one of, if not the most, important bonds in Osmanthus's existence. After he'd returned to a stable form in Zainara, Osmanthus stayed with both Crymson and Jett in order to find a way back to his home. In the process, he found himself falling into a routine with the pair - as well as harboring emotions for a particularly emotionless void.
In Alcantara, you'd be hard pressed to find one without the other. Whether it's in the middle of an investigation or in the midst of their home, neither stray very far from each other.
Attempting to summarize their current relationship without acknowledging the various trials and tribulations they've both been through would be doing them a great disservice. There's no simple way to explain or show it, however, Osmanthus loves and trusts Crymson with his entire being.
Not only was Jett the first one to find Osmanthus when he crash landed on Zainara, he was also the first to show the Arbiter completely unfiltered kindness without having a single clue who he was. At first Osmanthus found it alarming, now he finds it a bit endearing. He supposes that having been found in a low energy state had something to do with it.
While in Zainara, Jett helped Osmanthus understand his own feelings and that it's okay for him to express more than the few emotions he's been allowed. The two became extremely close; on one side Jett had a companion that he could have fun with and on the other side, Osmanthus had another person he felt he needed and wanted to protect.
As much as Osmanthus wishes he could say he trusts Jett completely, there's always the threat of another banana pudding incident.
