Story

tentative story:

His Father, Kura, used to rule the City of Dreams (somewhat regarded to as the capital of all of Yume) with Lucia, when he gets infected by a parasitic Nightmare during a large Nightmare siege. It slowly takes over him, and he ends up giving his soul to it, merging with it and becoming a Shadow. He got gravely wounded during a battle with Stella, the most powerful Nightmare Slayer in Yume. She managed to seal the majority of the dangerous Nightmares into the Shadow Realm. Lucia still protected Kura, and nursed him back to health in secret. He/his Nightmare needed souls to feed on, and she made their children, Kaede and Shiro, bring them to him.

Shiro barely knew his father, but knew he had to keep killing people to keep him alive. He did it for their mother, rather than for Kura.
