Rio Rueng

Rio Rueng was a (trans) boy blessed with a curse, the ability to see and talk to the sports of people and Pokémon. His “weirdness” caused his isolation, his mockery, his abandonment. His parents sent other people to pick him up from school, too ashamed at the idea that their only child could “talk to ghosts” let alone… Get along with Pokémon. Gross!

For his 10th birthday, his parents had given him a life changing gift. They traveled to Hoenn, since his father was expanding his company. They took him to Petalburg Woods, somewhere after 4 in the morning. “We’ll be right behind you!” But in minutes, they were gone and never to be seen again.

Rio had the voices in his head accompanying him through his venture in the woods. A dying light appears to guide him, too. As he follows the warm and inviting trail he finds himself growing weaker and weaker. He lays on top of a tree stump, thinking a nap wouldn’t hurt, but before he dozes off into his eternal slumber, a bright light flashes in his eyes. A boy wakes him up. The light besides him takes form, it’s a litwick. The tree he lays on takes form, it’s a phantump. Granted they did kind of try to kill him, but… He thought they were pretty cool.
