Profile
Finch Larimar Berwyck was born as the only child to their parents Syndra and Gorlin Berwyck, the owners of the prosperous Berwyck Tailoring Company, in the bustling town of Havenmarsh. The Berwyck family was well known in the towns surrounding Havenmarsh for their family-ran company that had shops in many of said towns. While they were loved quite dearly by their parents, after their birth they saw very little of them due to the very active business that they ran and thusly Finch was raised primarily by caregivers and family servants. When their parents were home, they saw them very little outside of small interactions. Regardless, they still loved their parents very, very much.
As time passed and they grew older, they began to see more and more of their parents and how they ran the business. When they were 6, their mother began teaching them how to sew b-grade appliques onto scrap fabric. It took many pricked fingers and some revisiting, but Finch began to learn the gist of at least sewing appliques. Eager to learn more about sewing, they began to take lessons from their mother on how to sew, embroider, and make their dolls clothing. Small starts, but it was a very good start for them. Most of all they were just happy to be able to spend time with their parents for once.
They were only 10 years old when the Apokalypsis happened. Havenmarsh was one of the many towns unlucky enough to not have angelic protectors watching over it, unlike the town nearby to them. Their parents did everything they could to ensure that their child was safe as cataclysm after cataclysm rocked the world. The land of Havenmarsh buckled, the town burned, and the waters of their nice little town ran red.
Unfortunately, despite all their preparations, Syndra and Gorlin didn't make it out of the Apokalypsis. Their preparations were enough, however, for their child to survive. When all was said and done Finch climbed from the basement they had taken refuge in and began to wander. Where to they didn't know, but they knew that they couldn't stay in Havenmarsh anymore. There was nothing left for them here.
Finch wandered for days with nothing but their stuffed rabbit, their skin and hair stained with soot and ash as their eyes stared blankly ahead. It felt like eternity, but they happened upon their safe haven: Aelmere. The town had been protected by the angels living there, and it felt like a place they could be safe in. Hungry, thirsty, and finally feeling like they were safe, they began to cry. It drew the attention of one of the angels who had protected the town, and they extended to Finch a gentle hand to guide them. They were safe now, and nothing would happen to them. Not under the angel's watch.
As the years passed, Finch grew into the town that had begun to rebuild and redevelop around them. New faces began to arrive and the town began to become lively and warm for the first time since the Apokalypsis had happened. For one of their birthdays, the angel that had saved them bestowed unto them a sewing kit and some material. That sewing kit became a lifeline and something they could pour themself into when their mind was stormy and they needed an outlet.
By the age of 18, they had taken over the last remaining shop (that they knew of) of the once-prosperous Berwyck Tailoring Company. Many repairs were needed to make it workable again, but they could manage that. It was the least they could do. It took a few years of work, but finally Finch Berwyck's Tailoring Shop opened up just a few days after their 20th birthday. For the past five years, Finch has been honing their craft and making durable, sturdy, yet cute and fashionable outfits and other sewn things for the people of Aelmere.
Finch is a bright and cheerful individual with an affinity for anything cute like stuffed animals and plushies. They treat everyone with politeness and kindness, and often goes out of their way to help people. They're also known for being quite playful and carefree with a slight teasing streak. Finch is not afraid of flinging insults or ignoring those that they don't care for or actively dislike. Their craft is their outlet and depending on their mood; a project may come out with a different finish than they intended but they always make sure that it's usuable by those in the town. They have magical abilities and more often than not many outfits that they make have positive magical abilities sewn in with intention in the threads that hold them together. Of course, for those who want a more personal and unique approach to the magic that flows in their clothing, Finch offers commissions for those interested
Finch is almost always dressed in their favorite blue dress with dark blue lace trim and a few off-blue petticoats underneath. Their long silver hair, blue at the tips, is pulled into a large braid and their bangs held back with hairclips of varying color. Their long nails are usually painted purple, but they tend to paint them different colors during holidays and special occasions. Large round rim glasses adorn their face, and their left ear is pierced with a cuff and a chain that leads back to a base stud hidden by their hair. Light blue leather pumps that match their dress and off-blue stockings with garterbelts are worn that rise to their mid-thigh.
