tenacious . caring . loyal
ambitious . over-preparer . frugal

It is not too difficult a task to evoke a sense of concern, attachment, or interest in an individual such as Saiko. She cares - perhaps a bit too much at times. In an ideal world, she would like to believe all people have good in them somewhere. Past all that is ugly, perhaps forgiveness is never completely off the table. No one can be a completely unsullied saint. And to those who have made an impression in her life, she remains fiercely loyal.

Saiko is tenacious and sticks to her guns, not often relinquishing a position she has earned or belief she has formed. It is likely due in part to her ambitious nature; having worked hard to get what she believes she deserves and holding onto that strong desire to succeed. In a similar vein, she can be quite meticulous, taking much care in the planning and preparation of whatever needs to be done. While it is good to come prepared, taking too long in doing so may also lead to missed opportunities.

Due to her upbringing, Saiko can never fully shake the habit of living frugally. The seconds stop for no one, and thus she feels the need to optimize the use of both her time and money. A few distasteful words or actions can leave her feeling indignant, which often leads to a certain pettiness. A verbal jab here, an addition of a small kink to roll into unforeseen sabotage there… It's all well-deserved! Saiko is one to merely watch at first, forming rather critical opinions of others should she form a dislike towards them.

She is not entirely eloquent with her words, either. An ill-mannered immaturity is something that breaks surface on occasion as well. Her aggression is not necessarily always in the form of something physical - and even then, it's not normally anything more than a shove, tap, or bonk. It could be in the way she cares, in her words, and in her actions. It can get quite intense at times. That's not to say she won't act upon something with more of a jaded air to her- she's been in existence for over a hundred years, after all.

TRIUNE FESTIVAL
Saiko was born as the middle child in a large lower-working-class family of nine. While her childhood wasn't one filled wholly with strife, there did come a lack of care from her parents. A combination of social status and spreading themselves thin over work and multiple children were to blame. They were kind-hearted people, but lacked a strong will to discipline and were often absent to begin with. Without a figure to guide her and her siblings through much of her childhood, she had developed a rather ill-mannered way of speaking. However, though not entirely, she would come to grow out of some of it over time.

The obstacles that came with her upbringing were a challenge in themselves, but not terrible or tragic. There were plenty of wholesome memories made while spending time with her family. But it was not a style she wanted to be doomed to living for the rest of her life. She wasn't born with the building blocks to climb upwards... so she made her own. Her plan was to gain experience, move into the city, find a mentor to train her with the blade, become an onna-bugeisha, and perhaps even marry into a family of samurai. But this path proved to be slow and arduous, given her need to feel prepared before moving forward. She found herself stuck at step three. After moving to the city, she had lucked out in saving the life of a woman well versed in wielding a naginata. Being owed a favor, she was trained under her care. However, there wasn't much progression after that.

While her original plan was to marry into a family of samurai, she instead found someone else by the age of 25. She fell hard and fast by his charm. To add, he was someone who would gift her items with much more value than she was used to having in her possession. Wealth? Perhaps. But not one made by honest living. Her new fiance was high-ranking member of a powerful family-run crime organization/clan. It wasn't something that bothered or deterred her. She was aware of the connotations of living alongside such a lifestyle. It wasn't something she romanticized and it didn't come without some strife. But she was content with this life– being loved, helping the clan out with finances and, occasionally, their more violent activities. She never had to end a life, however.

It was not what she had expected, but it was all seeming to fall into place regardless. Until, one day she had ventured up a mountain she had climbed many times before… and lost her footing due to a faulty waraji strap, plummeting down the cliff. The one time she came unprepared.
…A rather anticlimactic end to a hardworking start. She never saw her now-ex-lover again. Not that she'd remember him much.

Life in the Underworld was a tad monotonous, aside from the fun competition that came with the Triune Festivals every hundred years. But she did have a goal in mind, one she's been working on and preparing for at least a century: become a grim reaper.

Let's stick to the plan this time.
