Throughout her childhood, Valerie Grant-Morris always had a mania for living a life of thrills! Being raised a single child, her father introduced her to the world of competitive surfing at a young age and she's been hooked ever since!

However, she has also had to live with abilities and powers she had struggled to control. She was always mocked for her insistence on being able to talk to marine life, with her classmates always thinking she was a weirdo.

When in reality, she enjoyed having lengthy telepathic discussions with the fishes in the tank of her old biology class.

She was a girl without friends, save for her aquatic companions. Truthfully, she never felt lonely with them around. But human company wasn't exactly her thing...

Her other powers included superhuman swimming skills, scales that appear and harden to any physical trauma that occurs to her, superhuman strength, agility, and the ability to breathe underwater using gills that she hides on her neck.

Little does she know, her mother belonged to a secret, lost civilization known as the Monroli. Her mother, a Monrolian, was the runaway Queen that had escaped from revolutionaries in her own kingdom underwater: Xankathos.

She had found Valerie's father on the surface, and sought refuge from him. Soon, the two had blossomed a romance between each other, and Valerie was born not long afterwards.

However, after her birth, Valerie's mother had disappeared back into the ocean, never to return.

Being inspired by the stories her dad told of her mom and the comic books she always nerded about in her room, she ultimately decided to become the superhero known as THE WONDERFUL WAVERACER!
