Personality-

Allo loves being outside and with his owner. He’s not a big fan of loud heavy traffic but he’s pretty chill in any other situations. He loves trotting off leash down a trail just slightly ahead of his owner and the pack. He’s not a loner, he enjoys being around others but more in a passive way. When he’s on the trail he likes to enjoy his own thoughts rather than conversing or engaging with others. He thinks everyone should pick up after themselves and put a little effort into taking care of their ‘home’.

Likes- Trash game, walks, carrying things, treats, water

Dislikes- litterers, heavy traffic, loud music, bacon flavored treats, short leashes

Story- How the Trash Game Began:

Allo has always loved to carry things in his mouth, especially on walks. One day, Allo’s owner forgot to bring a toy for him to carry on their hike. While walking, Allo saw a discarded water bottle on the side of the trail. His owner told him to drop it but she stuck it in her pack to throw away on the way out. But then he found another and proceeded to carry it. His owner thought about taking this one too but looked it over and it seemed clean so she let him continue to hold it. They were finishing up their hike and the owner walked over to the recycling bin at the trailhead to throw away the original bottle. Allo watched her toss the bottle in the bin. He proceeded to walk over, hop his front paws on the lip of the bin and drop his bottle in as well. His owner laughed and praised her clever dog and that was enough in Allo’s mind to want to do it again on their next walk.

A few days later when they went out for their next hike, Allo kept refusing to carry a oy with him. He’d never not carried a toy before but she certainly wasn’t going to force him to. Given up, they started the hike. Shortly after, Allo once again, found a discarded plastic bottle, picked it up, and carried for the full hike before neatly depositing it in the recycling bin on the way out. The next time they went out, he did the same thing. His owner realized what he was doing. She no longer brings toys for him to carry but they have expanded what they now call The Trash Game. Sometimes, on cleaner walks they just find a single bottle or two and Allo will carry the same thing the whole walk. Otherwise, his owner has him retrieve and bring back pieces of trash so that she can help clean up and carry some out as well. It doesn’t matter what environment, mountains or oceans, the game persists. He’s always rewarded with praise and treats at the end of the walk but honestly Allo would do it just for the fun of it and to see his trails a little cleaner each time! What started as a little clever trick has turned into a fully fledged tradition. They also volunteer for trail clean up days. Even random people on the trail get inspired to pick up litter when they see Allo trotting down the trail carrying trash.
