There is nothing in the world that could keep me from adventuring!

Since the day that he hatched, Tethys has wanted nothing more than to explore and see the world. The young Mudkip has always felt a connection to open areas, like the ocean, partly due to his Water-type, but also just because there is a deep-seated yearning to See.

It took him a long time to get strong enough so he could do so; it would've been far more dangerous for him to see the sights had he done so the moment he hatched, so instead he went around and asked to battle other Pokemon, hoping that some decent fights would get his level high enough for him to feel confident to leave.

Thankfully for him, the plan worked! After many, many weeks of battling other Pokemon and having a good, fun brawl with all of them, the Mudkip finally reached level 14 and was able to use plenty more stronger moves than he used to. So now, with his newfound power and abilities, Tethys finally set off to see the world.

Some time into the start of his adventure, the young Mudkip came face to face with a sweet-looking Dunsparce-Sandshrew Poke. Unfortunately for Tethys, who just wanted to make a friend, he had just come across the jumpiest Poke in the world, and as soon as the "Hello" left his mouth, she was curled up into a tight ball, her little dinky Dunsparce wings flapping intensely to roll herself away from him. Though she rolled away, the young Mudkip followed her, and laid next to her tight ball, talking softly. As silly as this Mudkip was, he knew when to be gentle with someone. And so he did! He was gentle, and understanding, and patient- it was almost like he turned a complete 180 just to make her feel comfortable around him. It took a long time, but he did finally manage to get her to stay uncurled in his presence, and as excited as it made him, he stayed calm. He was finally able to tell her his name, and after some time, he managed to learn that her name was Burrow

Tethys' entrance into the Explorer's Guild wasn't without its own struggles. Even though he was more than prepared as an adventurer, he had a hard time sticking to rules and not going out on his own without someone to back him up, which was a very important aspect, especially to the Havenner Town division. There were a lot of monsters, and possibly some outlaws on the outskirts that posed a threat, and the Division Master is more than aware the majority of their charges were just kids. Regardless, though, Tethys always thought he would be able to get through it no matter what.

After the fight with the Redunaoth-Giratina that emerged out of nowhere, and after seeing what happened to the Tides' leader, something just... clicked in his head. He started to realize that the world they lived in wasn't just fun adventures, it was enemies, evil, monsters, potential death, and when he went back to his home with Burrow and Mama Flurry, he couldn't take it. He broke down right there, afraid for his life, his entire outlook on the world shattered. However, by his side was his friends, Burrow, and Mama Flurry, and Snowflake who was just in her room but heard the ruckus and got worried. The four of them sat on the floor and held Tethys until he calmed down and came back together after his breakdown.

After he was calm, he told Mama Flurry what happened, and his fears, and his crushed dreams, but she stopped him. Mama Flurry told Tethys right then and there that he had an earnest love for life and he shouldn't let an incident like that squander it. She told him that his positive outlook is what makes such a scary world like theirs so bearable, and as he listened to her, he felt his heart swell with newfound confidence. After Mama Flurry was finished talking to him, she pointed out a speck of glowing on his chest, and when he poked it, it started to spread. As it did, he closed his eyes as the light was too bright for him to keep them open, and as soon as it came it went. In the Mudkip's place was a Marshtomp, wearing Tethys' signature red cape. Everyone in the house was silent, until Mama Flurry broke the exciting news: Tethys evolved.

Now, as a Marshtomp, Tethys is working hard to make his adventures fun, but now, with a new respect for the life he's been given and a new love for it all. He vowed, after leaving Mama Flurry's home, that he would never give up his dream, but that he would also aim to stay out of trouble as much as possible so as not to risk his life.
