Birch

role would probably be a guardian of a small lush forest that borders the plains.

 They’re a kind and generous critter who loves to nap when they’re not birdwatching or tending to the small gardens around! When they nap, small birds gather on top of the tiny birch trees and nest there often.

The birch pattern acts as a camo as well, camouflages incredibly well when napping 

Unlike most guardians, he’s unable to defend physically against most threats. It’s not possible for him to violent or act so, even if it’s justified. Even if he could, he would not want to risk the lives of any eggs or hatchlings that live in his shrubs. When a guardian is unable to defend or attack, there is usually a Warden(?) that accompanies them/lives in the general area that fulfills the role of muscle.
