Traveling from city to city isn't always easy, but at this point, Madeleine is used to the struggles that come with it. Their dance has become a bit of a rumor among the people where they go, making it easier to find ways to make money.
As someone who appeals with their looks and talents to get the attention of others, they have gotten their fair share of people being overly familiar or a little too strong in coming onto them.
Meeting someone as strange as Avery, they think it's just more of that. Some rich bastard who's just out to gain their favor. But instead of that, Avery demands nothing of them, simply enjoying time together.
Maddy doesn't understand this at all, which leads them to simply keep returning to Avery's side, just to see what will happen next. They find the time spent together with the dragon immensely fun.

Maddy's many years as a performer and entertainer has made them quite jaded in the ways of love. In general, it feels like any relationship they have is transactional, so they keep others at arm's length.
However, they are also an inherently curious person, which leads to them being interested in Avery and how eccentric he seems. She has qualities that simply defies Maddy's understanding of the world.
Deep down, they really wanted others' attention, and in the search of that, ended up destroying many genuine relationships. Somewhere, they wish to find that with someone again, now that all has been said and done.

A strange dragon Maddy meets in the forest one day. He behaves much too different from anyone they have ever met, and as such Maddy can't help but want to get to know her more.
Avery is clearly interested in them, but despite this simply asks for their time together to continue, and nothing else. Eventually, Maddy finds themselves to return these feelings, little by little.
Still, they lack the capacity to really trust like that again, and as such they simply spend time together.
- It is rare that they wear shoes, especially when dancing. They'll usually wear bangles around their ankles instead.
- They are quite provocative with the intense coloration and design of their dancewear. This draws unwanted attention, but it is also a question of integrity for Maddy - these clothes best represent their dance.
- The braids on the front of their head is to prevent the worst of their hair getting in their face.
