Elaine is the daughter of a zebra mother and a crystal pony father. She was born in the crystal empire about 1000 years before the mlp show takes place. When King Sombra emerged, Elaine's parents fought against him alongside Celestia and Luna and unfortunately fell in the battle. Elaine, blinded by grief and rage, began hating the royal princesses and aligned herself with Sombra, as she deemed him more fit to rule. Now, after the return of the crystal empire, she still fights alongside her chosen king and is quite high ranking among his underlings.
