Basic story:

Cody (or Kadib in this universe, which means "hunter" in the local language) lived in a desert town on Cazcairn's Southwest coast. His town's ancestors moved there to avoid the magical corruption emanating from the interior of the island, the ruins of an ancient civilization long forgotten in the winds of time. The coastal mountains offered shelter from the magical instability and increasing anomalies plaguing the island. The villagefolk forgot where they came from, any historical documents being lost during the gradual migration. As such, the village's traditions are largely carried out orally throughout the generations. Spirituality was a large part of village life as countless myths and legends sought to explain the strangeness beyond their borders. The remoteness and isolation of Kadib's village led to little contact with outsiders until very recently when small coastal trade was established.

That particular area of Cazarin is both hot and dry in the day and cold at night, so outfits and lifestyles of the villagers had adapted accordingly. Many of the villagers sleep underground or in caves, with their houses serving mostly as entry points or places to work. The houses are designed to be cool in the day and warm at night. Fishing is their main source of food, though they acquire other resources through farming, hunting, scavenging, and trading. The main demographics are smaller mammals (rodents and small cats/canines) and lizards, with larger animals such as cougars and crocodiles being rather slim. Most species are native to desert or warm environments.

Kadib was born to a family of foragers, one of the few groups of villagers who would dare venture beyond their village borders. Such a job was necessary as vital herbs as well as animals for meat and clothes could only be found in the surrounding hills and flatlands. Being the only pumas in the village Kadib's family had done this vital but risky role for generations. Being naturally adapted to the mountains meant young Kadib quickly learned how to navigate the perilous hills and buttes from a young age. He would play in the surrounding canyons as a cub, even though his parents made sure he never ventured too far. He learned to climb, hunt, and the basics of which herbs were good and which were harmful. By the time he was a teenager he was adept at most survival skills within his environment. He was friends with the other village youth, and while reckless at times he was respected by his elders.

All that changed when one day Kadib and some other foragers were searching beyond the mountains for sustenance, much further out than usual. They stumbled upon some ruins they hadn't seen before, cracked and crumbling stone walls outlining what appeared to be some sort of ancient village. Thinking there might be concealed resources there, the group ventured over to the ruins. Instead of resources, however, in the walls of what appeared to be an ancient temple was a magical corruption embedded in an ancient stone tablet. Fearing for their lives, the group raced back to the village but it was too late. The magical corruption had consumed them, mutating them into deformed, ravenous monsters that quickly began to ravage the village that Kadib called home.

For some reason, Kadib found himself unaffected by the magical corruption, at least at first. He watched in horror as one by one the members of his scavenging group fell victim to the anomaly. Medicinal herbs did nothing to save them. They made it back to the village, but that was their biggest mistake as the corruption begin to spread to its residents. It wasn't long before the entire village was consumed by the corruption, Kadib managing to escape due to his extensive knowledge of the surrounding countryside.

Forced out of the safety of his village, Kadib had to fend for himself in the wild, desolate desert. He quickly discovered, however, that he had not in fact escaped the epidemic unscathed. It had infected him and yet he hadn't been fully corrupted. Still, Kadib found himself dealing with strange anomalies and powers brought about by the corruption. His senses, strength, and physical endurance had heightened far beyond their normal capacity.  The extreme temperatures of the desert didn't bother him anymore. He could teleport, but he couldn't control how far or where to. Poisonous blood and saliva began dripping from his fangs and claws, which he found could fell large animals with a single scratch. He began seeing wavelengths of light previously imperceptible to the human (or anthro) eye. (think ultraviolet and infrared) But his perception opened far beyond the physical plane, he began to see the hidden magical world beneath the deserts of Cazcairn. He began to feel a bond with the desert, with the anomalies themselves.

Scared and confused, Kadib wandered the desert until he finally reached the ruins that had led to his village's destruction. The effects of the magical corruption extorted a heavy toll on his body, leaving him exhausted. To his shock he realized he could now read the ancient text written on the crumbling stone pillars, or at least what was left of it. He lived in the ruins until a delegation from the city captured him and took him to a lab to study him and figure out what had caused the epidemic.

            Personality and character notes:

- More reckless and gets into trouble more often than regular Cody, but is still relatively mature if not more so for his age. He just likes to have fun.

- Highly adept at survival skills and transversing through the desert, but he still has a lot to learn

- while he plays games with the other village youth, he's not as much of a jock as Cody is

- Likes to wear the teeth of the animals he hunts around his neck to impress his peers

- Got his headband in his coming of age ceremony, each string of beads represents an accomplishment (such as hunting a dangerous beast or impressive physical feat)

- industrious and hardworking, does his part to help support the village

- Handmakes a lot of his weapons and equipment (other family members made his clothes)

- Since there's not a flat ref, when drawing him you can either use his normal ref or just guesstimate Idc
