STEPHEN
Stephen is the Head of the Association and has been since 2011; before then, he worked in the library. He's actively trying to stop people from figuring out the truth because he's afraid that digging too deep will draw the Fears' attention and make something horrible happen.
Formal, polite, he puts on a good and normal front. Apparently devoted to employee wellness, the type to say "my door is always open!". He's actually an avoidant coward who's deeply afraid of the world he's found himself in - he hopes that ignoring the truth of the Fears might keep them away from the Association. He's prone to paranoia but hides it relatively well.
Grew up in Washington and had a really bad encounter in his 20s that pushed him into paranormal research; he was always on the side of prevention. When he took over and found the previous Head's theories, it freaked him out so bad that he decided to stop people from digging any further.
Maintain a healthy work relationship. This degrades when Stephen finds out Pasha's been investigating things behind his back...
They don't know each other well, but grow to dislike each other through Pasha.
Just fine, a normal work relationship.
Very poor relationship. Greer (rightfully) thinks he's a gutless coward, and Stephen is... rather frightened by them.
Stephen doesn't think much of Alice at first, but they grow to strongly dislike each other.
