My life is the Tides' life too. I will protect them and myself, no matter what.

She had to get away. Her birth home was a hell on earth- her birth parents didn't understand her, didn't love her, didn't even want her. So she ran. She ran as far and flew as fast as she could until both her legs and her wings gave out. By the time she had gotten far from her birthplace, she would collapse onto the forest floor, tired and weak and definitely hungrier than she'd ever been before- she burned so much energy that staying awake was a challenge in and of itself.

After some time, Denks would awaken, light hitting her face from a window as she lay in what she could only assume was some kind of cot-hammock thing. Flat and sturdy, but hung up from the ceiling rather than on a bed frame like a normal bed would be. She was about to leave and see if she could find anyone who could answer any questions she had, but as she was about to open the door, someone else would push the door open instead to her strange little room. She backed up from the door, and watched a sleek, tall Vaporeon-Beakitty make his way through. She'd never seen anyone like him before, but was immediately on the defensive about being somewhere unfamiliar with a stranger. He saw her puff up and open her wings wider, and he would laugh softly, less mocking and more understanding, and amused. He began talking about himself, telling her his name- Cadmus- and how he was the leader of the group she found herself at. Promptly correcting himself, however, explaining he was actually the god. This confused her, since all she saw in front of her was any normal Pokemon, but he explained who he was.

Using his tail-spirit as a sort of extension to puppeteer the situation, Cadmus gave the young Pokemon a rundown of the place she was in. The settlement, the people, called themselves the Tides of the Moon, in which he was the Great Tide, their leader and the Pokemon they worshipped as a god to heal them or offer divine intervention or advice, and to cleanse them of their wrongdoings. He showed them the peace that they had never been offered before in their lives, taking in those who were considered the "black Mareep" of their families, or just those who were misfits. Denks was skeptical, but asked if they could take a walk around the settlement- he declined, first insisting she eat something, in which she realized her stomach was much louder than her inner thoughts at the moment. She agreed, and they went to the settlement's eatery.

Taking a walk with him after getting some food in her, Denks and Cadmus toured around the settlement, greeting other members, and seeing how each of them reacted to this "god" that he claimed he was. Every time he passed by someone, they addressed him by his title, treated him with the utmost respect, and remained a sort of casual formality with him. Her skepticism began to wear down as she realized that not only was he not so full of it, he did also help her get back on her paws, and gave her far more grace than her parents ever did, after only knowing her for a day. She decided then and there that she would be a Tide of the Moon, moved by the Great Tide's kindness, and vowed to protect him and everyone in the settlement like they did for her. Her and Cadmus spent a lot of time together while she wasn't training, and she considers him her father, proud to be considered a part of his family.

For many months, Denks had put herself in harm's way to protect her home and her new family. There was nothing that could have ever prevented her from doing so, and she vowed her every breath would be used for the good of the Tides of the Moon settlement. While her increasingly reckless behaviour started to affect Cadmus indirectly, because he cared so much for his daughter and she didn't seem to take her life seriously, he worried she was going to get hurt or worse throwing herself into situations over and over again like this.

One day, while she was battling an enemy during her guard duties, she was knocked out and almost killed. Cadmus came out from his hut to see a monster curled over her small form and attacked it ferociously. As he did so, she woke up for a moment and weakly pleaded for him to stop so she could protect him. However, mid-way through her words, he dispatched the monster to fade into a cloud of glitches, likely to reappear later down the line. He made his way over to her and began using his Water Absorb in a way that would allow her to heal. Once she was awake enough, he held her tightly and explained how important she was to him. How special she was, how much he loved her, and how much it hurt him to see her find herself in danger whenever she thought she needed to. It broke something in her, something she didn't realize she had.

She realized that her life was important, and also worth protecting as much as anyone was. The clarity, the realization that she was important struck her deep within her heart, and she started to become shrouded in a shadowy veil. She was unsure what it was until she felt it click in her mind- it was her evolving. The world finally deemed her ready. After a few moments, Denks emerged from the shadows, now a Zoroark-Honchkrow rather than a Zorua-Murkrow. She looked at her dad and saw the tears in his eyes and the smile on his face. His oldest finally evolved, and he was overjoyed for her.

After making this realization and accepting herself as a Pokemon worth love by others, she has started to be more careful about how much danger she finds herself in. She still takes her guard duties seriously, but she uses her moves more for defense now and pushing back rather than open attacking regardless of the situation.
