A wolf—no, a fox-like creature with many umbrellas embedded in it's back...
When I saw it, I felt as if I knew its feelings. A desire to be loved but not pitied. To be sheltered is to be harmed.
It looks warily at me but casts its gaze downward. Before I knew it, it placed the umbrella that was in its mouth at my feet.
Ha... A hypocrite, are you? Or perhaps something else?
Its fur is soft under my fingers, without a hint of moisture despite its rain-soaked appearance.
This is a creature that was loved once, and still feels love that it cannot touch or know any longer.
My heart breaks for it, and for myself as well.
