Slums SEKAI, influenced aesthetically by Kowloon Walled City, is a dense and neglected city illuminated by neon lights that flicker spasmodically and inhabited by humanoid creatures with objects for heads known simply as the "Dwellers".
The Dwellers are starved for entertainment, one major source being the underground livehouse where the Virtual Singers perform. The initial Virtual Singers that inhabit the SEKAI are Miku, who takes on the gritty form of a vocalist and guitarist in a band, alongside Rin and Len, who provide the drums and bass respectively.
