At around 23, Jasper finally got the chance to look around the old Crimson house. Though it had been abandoned for a decade, someone had been there and had left the door ajar. At first he found nothing too interesting, but when he went upstairs he discovered that the theif was still there. With a knife to his throat, she demanded to know who he was and why he had followed her. It was too dark for Jasper to see her well, but she seemed to recognize his name and relaxed enough to lower the knife when he explained why he was there. While she was trying to talk him into leaving, they heard more people entering the house and the thief lead Jasper to a hidden room behind a bookcase before they could be seen.
The room was pretty much exactly what he had been looking for, a strange combination of an office a library and a museum, full of display cases and booksheves with a map covering one wall and a large desk at the center, all faintly illuminated by a streetlamp on the other side of a stained glass window. They didn't have much time to look around since one of the people downstairs caught the house on fire, but the thief stuffed some things from the desk and shelves into a duffle bag before they escaped out the window.
Running back to his car in the light of the streetlamps, he was finally able to get a better look at the theif and was shocked to discover that she was Arlo Crimson.
Unsure if anyone saw Jasper or his car when they were leaving but knowing that everything that happened at her house would only make him more determinted to learn the truth, Arlo reluctantly agreed to stay at Jasper's house for a few days while she went over the papers from the house, but still wouldn't talk much about what happened when she was gone. After awhile Jasper learned about Arlo's powers and they returned to the island Arlo had been trapped on. The trip didn't go quite the way either of them expected and they soon find themselves in a lost world of magic that's slowly being torn apart by a vampire-like plague and centuries of conflict between the worlds magical and non magical inhabitants.
