- Being the only child left alive, Kairos' name means opportune moment. Their parents saw Kairos' existence as a much needed fresh start, so giving them a strong and meaningful name was important to wish the child a long and happy life.
- Previous to becoming a songbird, Kairos wished to write fantasy stories and to become a successful writer.

Born the only surviving child of nobles, Kairos was often hidden away from high society. Due to their father's unlucky past, there were many ill natured people that targeted their family. In fear that they would lose another child, Kairos was sent to live under the protection of a family friend who was a retired guard. It was hard for Kairos' mother to depart from her child, so in secret she would frequently visit Kairos while their father was attending to business elsewhere. However, the last time their mother was on her way to visit them, she was attacked and was forbidden to ever make contact with Kairos. Due to their young age, Kairos couldn't understand why their mother suddenly stopped visiting and why she didn't send a single letter.
Once Kairos was old enough to hold a sword, their guardian was instructed by Kairos' father to teach them how to defend themselves, in the event that their location was discovered. However, Kairos was not fond of swinging around a weapon that could harm others. Despite limited interactions with their mother, Kairos grew to become a sweet and empathetic child, but their father saw empathy as a weakness and wanted to make sure it wouldn't cost Kairos their life. Kairos was forced to take classes such as swordsmanship, theology, and herbology. It took awhile for Kairos to get used to the draining schedule but they soon became accustomed to it.
Once old enough to join the temple, their father requested them to become a songbird in order to ensure that Kairos was protected and could not be harmed inside the temple. In the beginning Kairos was a bit rebellious and refused to join the songbirds since they knew it was what their father wanted. However, once they were exposed to the practices songbirds partook in, they agreed to join the temple. Minus their temporary guardian, Kairos didn't feel any attachments outside of the temple and was fine to leave everything behind to start anew.

In order to prevent him from making mistakes that would tarnish their family's reputation, Artem's parents forced him to take swordsmanship. His teacher was rather young himself when he began lessons with Artem, so they tended to get into small scuffles due to Artem's inability to listen or even make the effort to learn. Despite the comparisons between Ivan and his swordsmanship, Artem was able to learn and was driven by his spite in order to polish his skills. As he got older, he got a bit over his rebellious phase through his engagement in bettering his swordsmanship and was able to teach himself not to care so much over competition with his big brother.
