[ overview ]
Apart of an ongoing urban fantasy campaign, Aux is one of four couriers for Up Up And Away Divine Deliveries, delivering offerings and effects from devotees to various deities by traveling to their domains, which gates reside all over (Fantasy) America.
Originally from the Feywilds, Aux grew up as the prince to the Unseelie Court as Aprysius C'lemansi (uh-PREE-shus k-LEH-mahn-zi), son of archfae.
(spoilers for campaign mates:)
Aux, once Aprysius, and his twin brother, Aestivus, grew up rather sheltered due to their parent's amortal nature, not compeltely comprehending time as their sons do (for example, time to be a child without adult duties). They learned basic combat and defense, magics, and, largely, responsibilities to the Court.
The two often felt overwhelmed and stuck in these roles, which manifested in Aestivus often slacking off and not taking tasks as seriously; Aprysius being the more diligent of the two. Whenever possible they'd sneak off together, get into whatever small amount of trouble that wouldn't put them in too hot of water, and enjoy whatever fun and peace they could outside of work. There were many times they both dreamed of exploring the plane together without the weight of the Court hanging over them.
Aprysius, being the 'more devoted' of the two, often found himself expected of more. The stress culminated to a particular night, wishing for a break from it all but not knowing how to ask for such a thing from what their larger-than-life parents expect from them, he stumbled upon a spot where boundaries between spaces was thin, a gateway between the Feywilds and the Mortal World. Impulsively, he made a run for it, leaving the Feywilds.
From that day forth, he changed his name to Aux and cut his hair. They've lived in the Mortal World for around a year or so as of the campaign starting. They are happy to live day to day and experience anything they can get their hands on, but this happiness is overshadowed by an immense guilt and shame of running away, and leaving their family, especially his twin brother and best friend, behind. He knows this won't last forever and the day he sees his parents and brother again is one he fears. All he can do is try not to think of that eventuality and focus on the now.
