connie is an escaped rogue conductor from the Train of Thought, though her kind and curious personality hardly reflects her "runaway alien felon" status. her reason for running is that the Train is hunting to "deactivate" (kill) her, as she has human consciousness, which is considered a malfunction. she is a driving force in the groups effort to bring the Train to an end.
