- Iris takes the care of her tail very seriously. She makes sure it’s always groomed and looks perfect. When she’s nervous and alone, she’ll wrap it around her to hold onto.
- Painting is her biggest and sole hobby that she does to relax and recenter herself.
- Movies are something she’s never experienced.
- Sigil calls her Riri in private.
About
Iris comes from a world filled with humans and mythical beings that they pray to. Having been born of the joining between a human and the Nine-tailed Fox Spirit, she’s a cross between them. Half human, half fox, she’s granted the power of a seer.
It’s an ability she quickly comes to feel ill-will towards. Especially when she has to foretell a future that ends in tragedy. Any time there’s one that is more negative in connotation, it ends with her becoming sick. The opposite is true for her more vibrant tellings. They seem to give her a perk to her step.
This weak constitution is kept from the people and worries those that oversee her. Even so, she enjoys the rare times she gets to go outside and walk through the gardens.
There are those around her that she does consider friends. The shrine maidens are the only ones that make her feel a semblance of normal. They bring her things she asks for whether it’s painting supplies or books for her to read.

"Flowers are the most amazing things! So many kinds and with even more meanings!"
Iris is a gentle girl and rather soft-spoken. To the point where she often doesn’t speak up during a group conversation or to stand up for herself. This comes from the thought that she’s nothing special. Even from her time alive, she didn’t believe she was. A desperate attempt to push away the weight of what her station brought. It demanded she be more than just special.
In most social situations, Iris is the type that remains quiet when a subject she doesn’t know about or isn’t interested in is brought up. Regardless, while she may not participate, she’s still listening and attempts to keep up with the flow. One on one with someone is usually where she thrives as it gives more targeted subjects.
Due to living holed away in the shrine, she’s big on following rules and staying in line. She’s not aggressive in the slightest unless it’s fighting Nether. It’s only when she has the scythe in her hands that she’s let free to be someone else for a time.
Otherwise, Iris is easily upset when she thinks she’s not being useful, helpful, or there for someone in general. She’s the type to carry the weight of others on her shoulders and never turn them away. If she can help or lend an ear, she’ll stop whatever she’s doing to assist them. She’s a brilliant sun that lights up others days with ease.
Harkening back to her life and how she was raised up on a pedestal, she feels more comfortable in her death. She’s not held above others and she feels like she’s no different than anyone else. It helps quiet the actual thoughts where she thinks she’s nothing special because she doesn’t want to be. Gone is the pressure of her life and she tries to focus on what she has now.

Iris has a natural state of movement where she’s not very quick, but her swipes of the scythe don’t have a terribly large amount of power behind them. They’re made to sweep the area and knock through mobs so that her partners can pick them off one by one. Her large bout of stamina means she can go for longer periods of time despite how draining the weapon she’s wielding might be.
Speed Cyclone
While it’s not her strong suit, Iris is will attempt to mow through and make space while sacrificing her impact. Each swipe and spin will have her slipping her hands further down the scythe until she slings it out toward her target and summons it back into her grasp.
Skill name
Iris can focus on her blows and slow down her strikes. Placing her hands differently on the scythe with a different grip, she changes out the swipes for slashes. The only downside is the fact she occasionally catches the ground and it will throw her off balance and out of her combo.
Summary
Foretold
After many failed attempts for the Fox Spirit to take a bride and give birth to the correct child, Iris is born into a large village. Her status is cemented when she comes with fox ears and a tail. The powers of a Seer are highly coveted as they’re critical to the survival of the village and decisions that are made. At times of great distress or war, the reigning King will often seek them out.
Because of this, Iris doesn’t remember her Mother very much. She’s taken from her at a young age and raised in the shrine. There, she lived a sheltered but well-rounded life. As long as she took to her practices, education, and meditation— she was allowed the freedom to walk the shrine’s fenced in grounds.
Iris was never allowed to venture further. She was too important and the cost of losing her too great. Yet the more they kept her away, the greater her need to slip away became. A need she always kept tucked deep down as she knew she could never leave. Her duty was to remain there and use her powers until her life ran out. Only then would she be free.
Each future she told that came true was both electrifying and terrifying. She grew to fear her own power. For telling of tragedy always took her to her knees. One in particular sent her spiraling into fear. A fear that she craved to get away from.
The greatest tragedy of their King losing the war meant many would die and her village would be torn asunder. From this stress she grew ill and was overcome with fever. A sickness that wouldn’t recover and would end her time a few mere days before the future she foretold came to pass.
In the Dark
Upon her death, Iris became a Star. A feat that she was told is only for those with a strong soul. The change of atmosphere is what she sunk all of her focus into. Never once did she try to become noticed nor did she want it. However, upon making acquaintances with someone she went out on missions regularly, she was acknowledged.
Vespera becoming a Keeper wasn’t shocking to Iris. Vespera choosing Iris as her Guardian was. She took it seriously and with the utmost of honor. Even if at night it reminded her of her time alive. To follow her duty and do not fail.
Seeing Vespera then succumb to fear and falter changed something in Iris. Being taken under Celeste’s wing helped as well. Celeste asked nothing of her aside from being a friend. The Celestial took the pressure off without hesitation. It made her feel a bit better. As much as she cared for Vespera, Celeste held her in no specific regard at all. They were simply working together. Friends perhaps.
However, Iris believed no one would truly understand her complicated feelings. The need to be perfect for everyone— to help everyone— mashed up against the want to run free. That is, until she met Sigil and for Iris, she felt like she could breathe for the first time.
Over the years of their afterlife together, Iris would get closer with the human that used to be able to speak to the dead. Something not too unlike her own strange abilities that she had had. Only with Sigil would Iris admit her fears and be comforted. Only with Sigil would she tell her of the times she had cried herself to sleep; alone, shattering under the pressure, and miserable.
Only with Sigil did she find love.
Relationships
Sigil
S.O.
Sigil is the one person that she feels she can talk to about her life on a deeper level and a greater understanding. With that comes a bond that she maintains and helps flourish as she falls in love with Sigil. While they’re both prone to negative thoughts and even anxiety about their relationship, each step is one they take together in hopes of overcoming what’s in their way.
Celeste
Friend
Iris cares a lot about Celeste and appreciates the very open dynamic they have. She’s not just Celeste’s Guardian, she’s also a friend. The fun-loving personality Celeste brings to their friendship enables Iris to relax and do the same. They spend a lot of time together in training specifically where Celeste helps Iris hone her skills further.
Xerxes
Friend
While Iris may be a safe, comfortable person for Xerxes to be around, she feels the same about him. His kind and gentle nature allows her to be more of herself. Despite how nervous he is, they make a wonderful pair when they’re out exploring and going to new places with or without others.
