Personality/Backstory:
Hotaru is a rather unorthodox man with odd ways of thinking. At first glance, he's a bit creepy, often standing silently as he surveys his surroundings. In actuality, he is very analytical and, though he has trouble relating to others, when he meets someone interesting, he studies their mannerisms as if he were studying an insect to better understand them. Surprisingly, he has a good, albeit occasionally dark sense of humor.
Though mysterious and a bit off-putting on the surface, deep down he's... well, he's still somewhat off-putting, but perhaps there may be an underlying hint of warmth beneath it all...
Hotaru is very relaxed and cool-headed, living in the present and thinking everything through before doing it, and he always wears a mysterious smirk on his face. His voice is gravelly and deep, and he's prone to chuckling or laughing easily. He is easily distracted by insects and any oddities in his environment. Hotaru is not too embarrassed by his own odd mannerisms, but he hopes that other people will not be too put off by them and will try to get to know him anyway.
Besides arthropods, he is very interested in all kinds of fauna, flora, and fungi, especially reptiles, and he enjoys performing scientific experiments. He also enjoys studying languages, being fluent in Japanese, Spanish, and some English. However, his weak points lie in anything to do with social sciences and anything too philosophical or abstract.
On stage, he gives off a cool, mysterious, mature aura, with a deep voice that seems to almost effortlessly capture the hearts of his fans. His highest stat lies in Vocal, followed by Visual, then Dance (as he's not too accustomed to moving around). He's still a rookie idol, but even being in his late 20s he has amassed a small but dedicated fanbase of men and women alike.
His mother was a Japanese zoologist, visiting Mexico for work reasons; soon, she met Hotaru’s father there, a Mexican zoologist, and the two fell in love. Hotaru was born in Mexico City, but his family soon relocated to Saitama, Japan when he was still a young child, which was his mother’s hometown. As an only child with busy parents, it was a very difficult adjustment, and he found it difficult to relate to other people, instead becoming somewhat of a loner. From a young age, he was very interested in insects, and eventually became an entomologist as an adult, finding insects easier to understand than people.
Reasons for Becoming an Idol: People... can be quite interesting. I want to find out more about them... Learn how to influence them… And teach them about insects. They aren’t as scary as they seem, if you don’t let them get under your skin. Kukuku…
