Personality

Milkweedpaw, at her core, is a cat who is desperately reaching to find their own place in the world; The gentle and introspective apprentice, despite their initial wariness, yearns to connect with others and build meaningful friendships. Her patient yet meek nature often belies her inner strength… especially when faced with challenging situations. Milkweed has a remarkable ability to keep calm under pressure, maintaining a composed demeanor even in the midst of chaos. They possess a keen eye for detail and an acute awareness of her surroundings; Whether it's subtle changes in behavior or minute environmental cues, Milkweed has a knack for picking up on things that others might miss. This heightened observation allows them to understand the dynamics between cats and interpret their unspoken intentions, while her perceptiveness also extends to their ability to read the emotions of those around her. Safe to say that she has an intuitive understanding of how others are feeling, even when they try to hide their emotions.

Thus, they dp have the capacity and want to reach out and comfort those in need of some comfort… Milkweed, however, seems to struggle to find the right words and freezes up when she approaches first. Milkweedpaw's cautious and observant nature can sometimes lead to overthinking and a tendency to second-guess themself; While her approach allows her to make calculated decisions and avoid unnecessary risks, it does hold her back from fully embracing new experiences. Milkweed finds themself hesitating and analyzing situations excessively, causing her to miss out on opportunities or become overly self-critical of herself; On top of that, her heightened sensitivity to the emotions and dynamics of others can occasionally become overwhelming, sometimes becoming overly burdened by the weight of others' problems, struggling to find a balance between being supportive and taking care of her own emotional well-being, leading to multiple moments of self-doubt and emotionally draining herself, then outright denying that she feels so with a coldness to her voice… so, they tend to get lost in their own emotions often.

Now, one of Milkweed’s defining traits is her insatiable thirst for knowledge! Like a sponge, she absorbs information and eagerly explores new subjects–her curiosity is particularly drawn to the natural world, as she finds solace in learning about plants and the intricate lives of the tiny creatures that inhabit her surroundings. Despite her thirst for knowledge and her unwavering dedication, Milkweedpaw often finds herself lost in her own thoughts–As said before, she lets doubt plague her, leading them to question their abilities as an apprentice.

The loss of their sister weighs heavily on her heart, and witnessing Bergamotheart’s nonchalant reaction to Hyssop’s death and the fight they had with Tiny in an attempt for them to stay, has left Milkweed stuck believing that perhaps it was their own fault for wanting to leave, for being afraid– Conflicting emotions that create an internal struggle for her as they grapple with their own worthiness and purpose, her fears and her own mind biting at them to never forget what took place.

Nevertheless, despite it all, Milkweed still has a deep love for her family that remains unwavering. They cherish the familial bonds, holding onto them tightly while letting her mind drift when she sees a plant that reminds her of the past. The nostalgia and sentimentality she inherited from her parent, Tinytitan. Despite leaving BarkClan, she carries the weight of her decision with them, even if Milkweed knows deep down that this is all for the better. So, to honor the memory of her sister, Milkweedpaw wears fresh hyssop in her tail– the fragrant herb serving as a reminder of their sister's presence and a symbol of her endurance that she always looked up to. Never once are they seen without it.

Despite her self-doubt and the weight of her past experiences, Milkweed holds onto her passion for learning, their love for their family, and their deep connection to the natural world. With time and support from those around her, Milkweedpaw has the potential to blossom into a formidable force like Tiny, but as the milkweed welcomes change in the butterflies that cherish them, Milkweedpaw herself is afraid to be content with the ever growing environment.

Appearance

Milkweedpaw is a small chocolate calico cat with prickly fur; Her pelt is short to medium in length, allowing for easy movement and agility. Though she may appear soft and cuddly, there is a subtle ruggedness to her coat, reminiscent of the prickly leaves of the milkweed plant from which she takes her name.
One of Milkweedpaw's most striking features lies in their eyes, one eye is a vibrant shade of blue, while the other is a yellow hue.

To honor her sister's memory and keep her close, Milkweedpaw adorns their tail with hyssop flowers. These delicate, purple-blue flowers create a beautiful contrast against the colors of her coat. She ensures that the hyssop flowers she wears are always fresh.

Story

Milkweed was born in what was once a loving family, specifically having a strong bond between her older sister, Hyssoppaw. They were inseparable, with Milkweed often following Hyssoppaw during her apprentice duties and dreaming to become just like her. However, when tragedy struck and Hyssoppaw passed away, Milkweed was deeply shaken and overwhelmed by the fear that she still harbors– a profound fear of death and an aversion to becoming an apprentice. Witnessing how it affected Tinytitan, and the seemingly quick acceptance of the loss by Bergamotheart, only intensified Milkweed's anxieties. Nightmares plagued their nights, haunting her with the fear that history would repeat itself. These nightmares grew more frequent as her impending apprenticeship drew closer, filling her with trepidation and causing her to doubt her own fate; “Would anyone miss me if I were to die? Am I going to die, too?” They would cry to Tinytitan often, clinging to their parent as her thoughts crashed against her like a storm.

When Tinytitan offered her the opportunity to leave BarkClan and move to a new place where things would be different, Milkweed hesitated, but made the difficult decision to say yes. The ensuing conflict between Tinytitan and Bergamotheart only heightened Milkweed's anxiety, and she felt an immense guilt when he begged her to stay. Despite the emotional turmoil and pressure, Milkweed did their best to remain steadfast in her decision, driven by her deep-seated fear and the need for a fresh start.

Their hopes rest on ZenithClan, wanting to believe that the new environment will prove positive for the fears biting at her head and heart. They yearn for a place where she hopes to overcome Hyssop’s tragedy, yet why does it feel like she’s only running away?

TINYTITAN . parent . alive

Milkweedpaw is very close to her parent, especially since the journey and move to ZenithClan. Whenever they're particularly frightened or upset, she'll often paw her way over to Tinytitan and simply seek the company of her family... Perhaps also as a way to hide away, but that she won't ever admit to. If anything, whenever she gets rather prickly and cold, her parent is one of the few cats who she'll open up too after some gentle nudging.

HYSSOPPAW . sibling . deceased

She looked up to Hyssoppaw and decreed that they wanted to be just like their sister. Unfortunately, the traditions of BarkClan held different plans and left Milkweedpaw shattered. If you ask them now, despite her fears, she still talks about Hyssoppaw highly and makes a point to honor her sister by wearing the plant she was named after--Of course, the grief of the memory still weighs heavy on her mind.

BERGAMOTHEART . parent . alive

Milkweed would once say with confidence that they loved her other parent as much as she did Tinytitan, but upon the nonchalant reaction of Hyssoppaw's death had Milkweedpaw terrified at the thought that, maybe, he wouldn't care either if the same happened to her. Choosing to leave was a difficult choice, the guilt and horror of the fight between both of her parents still claw at the back of her mind--Perhaps if she didn't leave, neither would have gotten hurt. Yet, she can't find the heart to hate Bergamontheart.

HEMLOCKLEAF . mentor . alive

to be added.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Empathy, Milkweed has a deep capacity for compassion, enabling her to understand and at least realize what someone may actually be feeling where words sometimes try to cover up. The main issue with this is their over sensitivity. While her empathetic nature can be a strength, Milkweedpaw's heightened sensitivity to the emotions of others can become overwhelming, leading to emotional exhaustion or neglecting her own well-being. When this happens, they tend to shut down and push away almost anyone who asks—She gives a terribly cold shoulder in an attempt for their head to process everything.

Milkweedpaw is quite the Overthinker. Their cautious and observant nature is helpful in identifying the small things some may overlook, then working out ways in their head to avoid the potential issues and play out certain scenarios before making a choice. However, this does cause her to get stuck in analysis and indecision, potentially missing out on opportunities or scaring themself out of something in fear of the potential consequences.

Shyness, it takes a bit for this meek cat to open up in new surroundings. She really wants to make friends, and they do try! But Milkweed mainly struggles in finding the right words that always get caught in their throat, so she accidentally comes off too meek or aloof when they’re really just over analyzing how to compliment someone or something.

Even still, Milkweedpaw is notably patient when she’s presented with a challenge! They may hesitate, but they’ll always stay steadfast in their choices—Be it building a skill or finally making a friend, she’ll exhibit a resilience to giving up… even if the self doubt and fear does set her back a few steps along the way.
