PERSONALITY: They’re very self-conscious about their looks and role, or lack thereof, in their family and life in general. They lack direction and crave to have it which leads them to the Inquisition. They aren’t as invested in rank and wealth like many Orlesians but they’re still very knowledgeable and skilled in The Game. They spend their time unwinding by either playing their lute or working with plants, they have a talent for herbology. Silver tongue, they’re good at putting on a facade when needed.

•EXTRA: Plays a lute crafted by a member of their father’s Dalish clan, was taught by their mother. They picked up singing from their mother who’s an opera singer. Every now and then they’ll venture out with their father for a few months and that’s where they picked up their love of plants. Wears a white fox shoulder shawl that was made by their father, it was the first thing they ever hunted with him. They were raised Andrastian but they’re not a believer, they do seem to have an interest in the Gods of the Avvar though.

•STRENGTHS: They're good with their sword but aren’t overly “properly” disciplined, so they run low on energy/stamina. Best to keep them out of the main foray and close to a mage or bow rogue to fend off any close attacks and allow them to bolster from there.

•WEAKNESSES: as stated above they're not very disciplined in swordplay. They also worry a lot about those they're close to in battle.

•POWERS/SKILLS: They are skilled at mixing herbs for medicines and potions. When recruited they have a specialization class called “Way of the Chevalier” it focuses on keeping enemies off of companions and bolstering/encouraging their strength. 

•FAVORED WEAPON(S): A long thin two-handed sword called “La Fleur d’acier” or “The steel flower”, it’s made of white-blue steel (it was a family heirloom that was taken by another chevalier when they were forced out of the academy. Their companion quest would lead up to discovering its location, it would be unexpected. The main companion quest deals with eliminating rogue chevaliers that have been killing Inquisition scouts. The location you travel to would be a unique villa. The man who had the sword is a now retired chevalier who was also the one that leaked Ètienne’s heritage and caused them to be kicked from the academy. You can either bargain/bribe or kill him for it.)

BIO: Ètienne was born to a human Orlesian noble opera singer and a Wandering Dalish Keeper (Wandering Keepers were a headcanon I came across years ago and I liked the idea) Their parents, despite their drastic lifestyle differences, loved each other very much but neither was ready to settle down and they knew they wouldn't be able to be public with their relationship. Their parents eventually get together publically during the epilogue of Inquisition. Ètienne's mother was betrothed to another man when she met their father and fell in love with him, Ètienne was born and their heritage was kept a secret, there were rumors spread about his mother but it never phased her. Their mother left her fiance and struck out on her own to live independently, it was a very big scandal at the time. Ètienne saw their father for only a short time every year and loved hearing him tell stories and watching him show off his magic. They struggled a lot with not knowing what to do with their life until one day they happened to be saved by a Chevalier as a child and was awestruck. They idolized Chevaliers from all the stories they had heard about them as a child only to face a cruel reality when they finally joined the Chevalier Academy when they were older. Ètienne witnessed racism against non-humans and overly gross misuse of power. Eventually, Ètienne's heritage was found out and they were threatened and hazed into quitting the academy and eventually that’s what they did. After so many years in the academy, they became very withdrawn after being forced to drop out and became a borderline recluse. A few months later the Conclave happened and they saw hope for something more once again.
