Lives in the library of worlds located in the soulstream, which is an access point to all existing worlds. She is part of the group of immortals who fix issues in the worlds and keep things balanced and the lifecycle working correctly.
In the world she came from, she was a "hunter" - a type of mercenary. She was killed during a mission, and she never fully accepted her death. When Morrigan pulled her soul to create another immortal from it, Emilia's "life" was the one that manifested instead of the one Morrigan wanted. However, the death goddess found this intriguing and decided to keep Emilia around.
It took some time for Emilia to adjust to her second life, as visions of the other lives her soul went through since she had passed would sometimes surface. She was initially unsure she was completely "herself", but eventually settled into things. Her carefree attitude to work puts her constantly at odds with Aurora and the two frequently get into fights. She dotes on Raissa, since the other girl reminds Emilia of her daughter she never got to see grow up.
