Mio is a mercenary working for the organization that turned her into a cyborg. She is the oldest member of a special unit known as the Scattered Petals, a group of all female cyborgs with various flower themes. As such, she acts as their leader of sorts. She, alongside the rest of her "sisters," are most often utilized for assassinations. However, it's not necessarily uncommon for the group to get other types of work as well. Mio in particular is greatly skilled in her job, having been entrusted with countless jobs in her lifetime. However, she isn't necessarily content with the position she's found herself in. If given the opportunity, there's a good chance that she would choose to make another life for herself elsewhere...

Personality

NOTE: So uh mid-coding I kinda ran out of steam to write. I'm doing my best with what I've got, but I'll likely revise it to be better eventually aaa,, it's been hard to really put personalities into paragraphs recently, like I can see how I want characters to be in stories and writing and such but can't... word it well lmao. It's hard.

Long story short uh grr grr angy cyborg woman,,

Mio's personality is very much dictated by her surroundings. When on jobs, she often portrays herself with a cold and aloof demeanor. She keeps her mind focused on her missions, and handles herself with elegance and professionalism. She's incredibly intelligent in combat, using this knowledge to put strategies to work. She comes off as being a mature and seasoned assassin, which isn't untrue by any stretch. She doesn't say more than is necessary, preferring to let her actions speak louder than her words. What words she does speak are often presented bluntly, with perhaps a hint of sarcasm at times. She's no stranger to giving snarky responses, particularly to her superiors if she thinks she can get away with it. As classy as she appears, she's surprisingly crass. She likes to get to the point with as little adversity as possible, a philosophy that sneaks into her conversation style. She's very serious and strict, holding no patience for anything that would derail her work. While she attempts to keep herself stoic, this can slip if she's put in a stressful enough position. She's a much more emotional person than meets the eye. As hard as she tries to stay composed and calculated, she's no stranger to reckless behavior in certain circumstances. She is a downright brutal and relentless fighter. If she's hired to kill you, she'll make sure you're dead before she leaves her mission site. However, at the same time, she isn't entirely heartless. She operates by a surprising moral code, one that often gains her flack from her superiors. She only ever sets out to kill direct targets, and never the people associated with them. For instance, if she was hired to kill a target with a bodyguard, she would go out of her way to handle the bodyguard nonlethally, even if it would be easier to kill them. She hates getting her hands dirtier than they have to be, or at least that's the way she justifies it to anyone who asks. She also believes in fair fights, in a sense. While she prefers to use stealth to take care of targets quickly and effectively, if she's engaged in direct combat, she doesn't like to use dirty or underhanded tactics. She has a level of respect for her targets; it simply doesn't feel right to her to give anyone an unfair end.

While she tries to excuse these morals to her superiors when questioned, Mio knows deep down that they're signs of her true nature. Underneath her killer exterior, she's actually a surprisingly sensitive soul. She doesn't truly have any stakes or investment in her work. While combat gives her a rush, one she's always been taught is a good thing, it's not something she finds particularly thrilling or worth chasing. She's not sadistic or cruel. She downright hates the results of most fights she gets into, justifying it to herself by saying that it's either them or her, or that it's just her job and she needs to complete it. She struggles desperately with her head and her heart. She's been fed so many justifications that she tries to use to reason with herself, but she still feels a heavy heart at the end of the day. She's no stranger to feeling compassion, especially for those close to her. While her fellow members of the Scattered Petals are called sisters in title alone, she feels that connection deeply. She truly sees them as family, and hates what all of them have been put through. She can be surprisingly warm and sisterly when she feels comfortable doing as such. When it's needed, she can become a gentle shoulder to lean on. There have been many times where she's comforted those around her through rough missions, much to her superiors' dismay. Though this can also be hard for her due to how jaded she has become. She's quite awkward with expressing the many emotions she goes through, to say the least. In part, this is because of how she was taught. She was constantly reminded that emotions have no place in her work, and would be punished for expressing them. Alongside this, combat is all she's known for as long as she can remember. She's seen first hand what showing too much emotion on a battlefield can do. She's always been under the thumb of her organization, having her life dictated by those above her. She's deeply conflicted with this. On the one hand, she feels a sort of comfort in her position. She does her job, she avoids punishment and survives another day. She does good, and she's rewarded with praise and shelter. To some extent, she doesn't know who she really is when she's off the battlefield because of this. On the other, she truly hates having to kill for a living. She has a deep sense of remorse, and a desire to atone for what she's done, despite how hard she tries to justify herself. She resents her organization for making her a weapon and keeping her so controlled, a feeling that comes out in her sarcastic words. She tries to rebel how she can, but at the end of the day she struggles to truly break free. Still, she has a will to do as such. She wants to live her own life, make her own choices, and stop the constant killing. Deep down, she's optimistic about the possibilities of this outcome, despite how cynical her experiences have made her. She has a lot of angst, to say the least.

Once Mio is able to escape her organization, this more compassionate side of her is able to emerge. She's able to more easily show her sensitive heart, and use it to help others. She follows her heart and what she knows is right instead of what the organization used to tell her was right, using her combat skills to protect and aid rather than mindlessly kill for the sake of work. She makes herself a protector of sorts, fighting for others who can't fight for themselves. She still holds remorse for those who fall in battle against her, and does her best to correct for the acts she needs to commit. At first she still struggles with the idea that she doesn't have to fight or kill anything that crosses her path. She was praised for that behavior for so long that some part of her still sees it as her normal. She doesn't outright attack anyone, but will ask whether she should "take care of" problem people and such. Though she does learn past that. While she tends to stay more serious, as it's simply what she's grown comfortable with, she's no stranger to getting bold and assertive, and even a little playful with the right people. She learns to express her emotions more, often through physical gestures moreso than words. She simply finds it easier to express herself through simple forms like that, versus having to figure out wording she doesn't fully grasp. She starts tackling her identity and past actions, and begins to develop a strong moral backbone for herself. She grows a deep hatred for being controlled, becoming more stubborn and resilient. She doesn't want to let anyone boss her around like she was by the organization. She has to grapple with the intense emotional conflict she's harbored since her days as an assassin, something that takes support, but she's doing her best. (I know I have more to add to this, but again uh writing struggles,,)

As expected, Mio is an incredibly capable fighter. She has a large arsenal of weaponry at her disposal. This includes a sword, bladed fans, a weaponized parasol, kunai, shuriken, and even surprisingly some guns and explosives. All of her weaponry is pink, and specifically cherry blossom-themed. Her guns use specialized bullets; they are a sort of explosive round that lets out a burst of cherry blossoms and petals when fired. Her explosives work as smoke bombs, though instead of a typical smoke they let out large bursts of petals. She stores the vast majority of her smaller weaponry and ammo in her legs, which are suited up with plenty of compartments. Larger weaponry that doesn't fit into these compartments will often just be carried on her person in various ways. She is highly skilled in using all of these weapons, and in switching weapons with absurd speed when she needs to. She's no stranger to hand-to-hand combat either, but greatly prefers using weapons. On top of this, she is a cyborg. As such, she has the enhanced strengths that a cyborg would. Her body is specialized so that she's able to stick to and walk on walls/ceilings. She has enhancements to keep her footsteps and movements muffled significantly compared to those of a human. Under her eyepatch, she has a cybernetic eye to replace one she initially lost. It has super enhanced signt and precision, which she uses to scout or as a replacement to a scope. However, she only uncovers it when necessary, as it otherwise messes with her vision as her other eye is normal.

Backstory

TBA, at least in detail. I have little things though!

Mio doesn't remember much, if any, of her past before becoming a cyborg. It's uncertain whether this is due to trauma, or due to the organization suppressing her memories. The earliest thing she remembers is waking up on a lab table and being sent on her first mission. She has always been praised for her killing, the more ruthless the better. The organization that made her wanted essentially a walking weapon, and expected her to deliver on that goal. At first, she simply did as she was told. Her success on her missions inspired the organization to invest in more cyborgs like her, creating the Scattered Petals with Mio at the helm. However, as time passed, Mio began to feel more and more uncertain of her position and actions. She started questioning what the organization wanted. She quickly learned what would happen if she expressed doubt in them, however. Disobeying led to harsh punishment, which she experienced first-hand when the organization's leader slashed her eye. This led to her needing her cybernetic replacement (maybe? I'm still playing with details so maybe this happened earlier, but this is an idea.) This, alongside her conflicted morals and teachings, led her to becoming quite stuck in her position. Eventually she gets out of it, though the organization doesn't like that one bit.

After leaving the organization, Mio still does mercenary-style work, as it's what she knows best. It's hard for her to find a job outside of combat for various reasons. However, she does things much differently. She only takes on jobs to protect or help others. Things like security, bodyguard work, stuff like that. Even teaching others self-defense. Anything she can do to keep vulnerable people safe from harm. She also refuses to kill during her work, unless as a last resort. If faced with human opponents, she will do her best to only use nonlethal methods. Being able to do this helps her cope with her past a lot; as she puts it, she feels that she's no longer a weapon, but rather a shield.

Trivia

67543134_Jjj5YOdEH8E179l.png
  • Most of her body from the neck down is fully cybernetic. She has more subtle seams and joints where applicable, as her skin is a soft synthetic substitute. The only parts of her that are more distinctly metal in texture are her legs, assuming her skin isn't damaged.
  • Due to her cybernetic nature, she is able to trade out parts as she needs to. This can include for repair, or for purely cosmetic changes, such as going flat-chested or swapping out plates below the belt (usually she uses smooth plates like barbie anatomy to "avoid distractions," as she puts it.) The main reason she typically feels the urge to do this is if she has to go undercover in a different appearance for a job. This is rare, but does happen.
  • She has a "tattoo" of three cherry blossoms on the right side of her midriff. Even if it's not commonly exposed in her usual attire, she finds it pretty to decorate her body that way.
  • She will sometimes wear red lipstick. She simply likes the way it looks, and if she has the time to doll herself up with it she will.
  • She has a habit of storing just about anything in the compartments of her legs, should she have space for it. She treats them like huge pockets that just happen to hold most of her weaponry. She of course makes sure not to store anything that could be a pain to clean, but otherwise.
  • She technically doesn't need to eat or drink to survive. However, as her tongue and inner mouth are still "natural," she has the ability to taste and can eat if she chooses. It simply converts into extra fuel if she does. Surprisingly, she is actually quite a foodie, and loves boldly-flavored foods.
  • Naturally, she absolutely loves cherries and cherry-flavored things!
  • With her love of food, she ended up learning how to cook in her spare time. Mainly to make sure she can have food whenever she likes, as most people in her organization know she doesn't need to eat and often refuse to indulge her. She likes to cook for others as well, though she really only knows how to accomodate her own tastes for bold and flavorful dishes. She knows this can be overwhelming for others, even if she likes them.
  • She has a surprising lazy streak. She quite likes being able to relax and not do too much when she gets the chance.
  • Shockingly, while she presents herself in a much more classy manner, she actually swears like a sailor. People who haven't heard her open her mouth find her quite polite, and she still manages to surprise those who know her well with her colorful language.
  • While she feels most comfortable sticking to her usual fashion, as it's what she's used to, she doesn't mind dressing up otherwise. She especially loves outfits using pink, white, and red! Really anything that matches her legs is a win for her.
  • She is also no stranger to wearing little more than her jacket if she's feeling casual enough. As she puts it, she doesn't really have much to hide. She doesn't have much of a sense of modesty.
  • She has a very soft spot for animals of all kinds. She's no stranger to briefly stopping mid-job just to pet a cat or dog that crosses her path.
  • In order to get to jobs quickly, she has a motorcycle. She quite loves it, and takes great care of it. If she's able to, she will sometimes go on rides just for the sake of it.
  • Due to her experiences with her work, she's gained a habit of using stealth tactics to get everywhere. Even places she's allowed into. She can never just use a door, she always has to sneak in through windows or other means. She's very good at finding security vulnerabilities that way, at least!
  • Alongside this, due to how she was built and the habits she's picked up, she always enters places very quietly. She's the kind of person who could sneak up on you without realizing she did. She tries to remedy this by making noises when she enters places, like knocking on walls or things like that, but it's not always foolproof.
  • While she's quite smart in a tactical/combat sense, she's surprisingly naive when it comes to many facets of civilian life. She was never really educated in such things in favor of making her combat-ready. She likes learning about civilian activities, though!
  • She really loves spring. She finds it beautiful to see the world in bloom like that.
  • She has a mask that she often wears during missions. It's rather high-tech, and covers her face from the nose down. It can also unfold into her helmet for when she's using her motorcycle.
  • When she gets stressed, she often lets out her emotions through training. Particularly with target practice using her ranged weapons, though she's no stranger to going to town with her sword or other melee weapons either.
  • Sometimes her stress-training can mesh with her cooking, causing her to put way too much effort into cutting ingredients, particularly large or hard to handle ones. If you see her with a cutting board full of finely cubed watermelon, you know she's had a particularly bad day.
  • More later wheeze,, I know I have more, I'm just starting to struggle with typing so I should wrap this up while I'm still making sense,,

Volkov [ Boyfriend ]

Mio first met Volkov when he was still an agent. The two worked together on a few missions, and got along surprisingly well. She considered him a friend, and his presence helped make her missions with him more tolerable. However, their friendship was put to a bitter end when Volkov ditched his previous employment and joined the military. Mio was devastated by this. While she was relieved he was able to escape, she also couldn't help feeling jealous and angry that he got out and she couldn't. She felt left behind by one of the few people she trusted. The two were pitted on opposite sides of conflict, and every time they crossed paths after, they were forced to fight one another. Despite her feelings about his departure, she still hated having to cross blades with someone she considered a friend. This came to a head when the Scattered Petals were tasked with raiding the military base Volkov was on and assassinating his lover. Mio was immediately resistant to the idea. She knew how hurt he would be and didn't want to go along with the mission. Despite her attempts, she was ultimately forced into taking part by her higher-ups in the organization. The mission was a success, but one Mio felt nothing but shame and remorse over. Once Volkov rose the ranks to colonel, Mio was tasked with assassinating him. However, she knew she couldn't do it. She left under the guise of completing her mission, but in truth went only to talk to him—an attempt to apologize and reconcile. Through this conversation, Volkov offered to take her in, at least temporarily. Now free from the organization, Mio was able to grow and thrive. She and Volkov were able to get close again, gaining deep trust in one another, and eventually fell in love.

Mio is forever thankful for what Volkov did for her. She cares deeply for him, and vows to never let another soul hurt him.
