Harumi was born in the Tian Xia nation of Jinin, one of the only elven nations within the entire continent. She was born to a decently wealthy estate who owned a piece of the mithril mine their country covets and deeply restricts. As such her family lived comfortably and had high expectations of Harumi. As the oldest daughter of the house, Harumi inherited many responsibilties and was incharge in maintaining the duties one would expect of a woman. She performed these duties proudly and intensely kept to the orders of tradition.

In that vein, Harumi spent a long time reading classical literature imported from Minkai, and while most of these stories were historial accounts, the ones that struck her as most intruiging were those that wrote of exorcisms and ablutions. She was allowed to partake in ceremoies pertaining to it as she aged as money to hire a private tutor was of no issue to her family. With time, Harumi was capable of feats similar to those in her most covetted readings, and just in time too it seems. Harumi was not permitted to be a spirit medium or exorcist by her fathers orders, and while this deeply upset Harumi, she took this order with grace and accepted it.

The Watanabe family estate is within the countryside, not too far from the capitol of Ayajinbo but still far enough away to be comfortably distant. As such, the only immediate help the estate can recieve is that which lives within it. With their own doctors, chefs, and guards the estate typically has no issue with such a set up; however, when a strange miasma befell the entire estate the Watanabe family was sent into a panic to quickly dispell it. The miasma was dangerous, thick and purple. Those who breathed it in quickly turned sick and weak, and the family wondered if somehow this plague was punishment for something they had done. Most of the family was powerless to stop or understand the miasma, but Harumi's study into such occult going-on's allowed her to posit a few ideas on how to solve this miasma. She donned a mask cleasned with holy water and drudged into the miasma seeking to find its heart.

At the center of the fog, where the purple smoke was so thick it blotted out the sun and became black, Harumi found a red sphere; it was the eye of the miasma or the soul of the spirit that should cause it. In her hand she took up the ceremonial suzu and performed the needed magic to purify the creature. In an instant the smoke turned white and clear and began to coalesce around the orb until the fog had completey dispersed and took the form of that being a snake. Now that the spirit had been cleansed and brough back to its senses, it introduced itself as Enenra, a mist spirit of air and revealed that now it would most likely soon disapear as it lacked much more strength to remain in this plane. Harumi instead offered the spirit to serve as her familiar and guardian in return for her cleansing it. Enenra agreed to such an arrangement and Harumi supplied the elemental with the nessisary life force to stay manifested in this realm.

Harumi returned to the estate, wreathed in the body of her newfound familiar and presented it to her father, the head of the estate, as a trophy and sign of her capabilities in such fields. Her father was moved and impressed by his own daughters potential and came to finally rescend his forbiddence of her pursuing a career in the field of exorcisms. He permitted Harumi to become an exorcist and threw a banquette in her honor as thanks for single handidly saving the estate. From then Harumi departed the estate in due time alongside Enenra in search of spirits and more knowledge in her field.
