The Rat King

Some fun lore about the rat king!

Long long ago... there was a mighty but kind ruler on the moon. They took the form of a humble rat and shared the moon's bountiful cheese with all of their lunar mice minions! They were the king of the moon.

However, one day, the rat king noticed that the moon cheese was starting to run out! Their mice were starving and so were they. So, bravely, they set out to the dark side of the moon in hopes to find more cheese. In doing so though, however, the rat king slipped and fell right off! They fell and fell all the way down to Earth.

When they awoke on Earth, they looked up to find that their rat silhouette vanished from the moon! So, lost, hungry, and confused, Nini the Rat King begged the stars to watch over their beloved moon.

Nearby were the twin moon rabbit sisters of Mars: Phoebe and Deimoine, who heard Nini's call and now take turns to watch over the moon every rotation.

On Earth, Nini the Rat King has to find their way back to their moon kingdom! So, they venture off across the lands to find help, amongst other things. The internet really is a wonderful thing and very efficient.

During their stay, they come across a mysterious egg. And considering how hungry they were, they try to eat it! Upon cracking it open though, hatched a baby phoenix! Or... at least it seems like a phoenix? It's not exactly bursting with flames or elegant or very smart. Nini deems it to be a phoenix anyway and names the little blue, impish bird "Kazu" who happily takes to his new guardian and perches upon their shoulder. 

Together, they now try to navigate life on Earth and, hopefully, find a way back to the moon!
