Summary

An Alpha Gengar, born two centuries ago. A human boy named Cecil found an abandoned egg, and expecting a cute Pokemon, took it in to hatch, surprised to find an Alpha Gastly instead!

That did not deter Cecil, and named the Gastly Igor, and raised him as a beloved pet! Unfortunately, Cecil passed away in his early 20s, and Igor drove the rest of the humans out in his grief. He struggled to living alone and fending for himself at first, and although he learned how to hunt and take care of himself, he struggled to interact with other Pokemon due to his upbringing, and thus remained solitary.

Roughly 130 years after Cecil died, Igor found an injured Banette when he was out hunting for food. Dragging them back to the mansion, he patched them up and let them rest in a spare room; when they awoke they said their name was Velvet, and did not seem keen on leaving anytime soon. Igor had found himself a friend and a roommate!

Half a century after meeting Velvet, he found a teenage Gengar collapsed in the foyer of his mansion. When she woke up, she introduced herself as Dee, and left as soon as she had recovered, she left. That was not the only time they saw her though, as she kept returning, staying for longer and leaving for less. Igor and Velvet unofficially took her in, with Igor very soon seeing Dee as his own daughter!

Personality:

Igor is a very solitary individual, partially due to him being unaware of how to properly interact with other Pokemon due being raised by humans, and partially due to him bring an Alpha - he is extremely territorial over the mansion, and with the exception of children and the injured, will attack anyone who intrudes.

When interacting with others, Igor is extremely polite, mimicking how he saw his humans interacting when they had guests over. If you manage to throw him off his script, however, he will be extremely surprised, and will take a moment or two to work out the 'correct' thing to say. This politeness is somewhat of a mask; a learned behaviour he now defaults to, in order to conceal how awkward he truly is.

This awkwardness is due to his upbringing - raised by humans until his adulthood, with minimal interaction from other Pokemon, and no interaction with other Gengar or even Ghost types. Because of this, he has no idea how to interact with other Pokemon, and misses what would be obvious social cues. Igor finds these interactions incredibly uncomfortable, and instead chose to remain solitary, than attempt to find other Pokemon who would overlook these traits.

With those he is close to, Igor is more genuine, feeling comfortable enough to not worry about coming off as awkward. Despite being aggressive towards intruders, he is calm with his loved ones, and very protective of them - hurting them is an excellent way to invoke Igor's wrath. He is hesitant to show physical and verbal affection, instead preferring to spend quality times with those he cares for.

Due to his polite and formal nature, Igor has a disdain for foul language. He personally refuses to swear, and is visibly disappointed if any guests swear. He lightly reprimands those residing in the mansion about their language occasionally, although he won't force them to stop using profanity.

Relationships

Velvet: Igor and Velvet are very close, old friends! Igor expected them to leave the mansion after they fully recovered, but they instead stayed - he appreciated their company, however, and so he never asked why they chose to stay, in fear of driving them off.

Igor has always used they/them pronouns for Velvet, as he thought they were genderless like other object mon, such as Polteageist and Dhelmise. When he found them secretly trying on doll clothes, he told them they could just keep the clothes - he had no use for them, after all. Later on he realised Velvet was AMAB, but still supportive of them presenting femininely, as it was obvious they were much happier that way, compared to when they tried to be the man they were 'supposed to be'.

Velvet and Igor affectionately bicker often; Velvet will often do something to wind Igor up, and he'll respond by scolding them - neither of the two are genuinely upset with one another, however.

Velvet is very physically affectionate with Igor, despite his hesitance - they will often climb on his back to sit on his shoulders, and they will often co-sleep, with Velvet using Igor as a weighted blanket.

Dee: Igor took Dee in after seeing her collapsed on the foyer, although the two of them were hesitant around each other for a while - Igor had no idea on how to interact with the teenager, and Dee insisted on regularly leaving for weeks to months at a time.

Eventually, Dee opened up to Igor about the issues she was going through, and he became very protective of her, promising to keep her safe. The two of them began to see each other as father and daughter, although Dee would still call Igor 'old bastard' as a term of affection.
