Pay no mind to my fits of moonmadness, I beg of you. I am... getting better, but I am not fully healed yet.

Personality

Silas was the proverbial runt of the litter when it came to a personality. His siblings typically became bold and boisterous, loud and fearless early on in life. It was the way they were raised, after all, to never pull punches. But Silas kept to his polite manners despite his "less than polite upbringing".

It was only when Silas was bitten and cursed with lycanthropy that he suddenly became more unstable. He tries to retain his manners in spite of his unnatural circumstances, aiming to be polite and proper even when plagued with nightmares, insomnia, and madness brought on by his curse.

Notes

  • Scars litter his body all over the place, with the two most prominent scars being on his lip, chest, and left forearm. There are small scars from running through thorns repeatedly on his legs.
  • Every time he transforms, Silas carefully stitches every rip and tear back up again. His ability to sew hides the brunt of the damage to his clothes made by his transformations.

Story

Chapter One

Prologue 30/08/1843 - 20/10/1874

Silas was born on 30/08/1843 around Holsworth in Devon, England. He was born the third of four children to his mother and father, the former of whom often told him about how his birth nearly killed her. He was raised as a farmhand to his parents and was one of the only children among his siblings interested in persuing an education beyond what his mother and father could teach him. Silas worked primarily with livestock, even as the aid of him and his siblings helped his family's farm expand further into more orchard land as well.

One night, the shepherd was unknowingly turned into the wolf itself. Silas was awoken along with his family to the sound of their livestock being slaughtered by what sounded like a madman. It was, unfortunately, Silas who got out of the house the fastest and was confronted with what looked to be the unholy offspring of man and wolf. The commotion of his arrival drew the creature's attention to him, and it abandoned the warm entrails of the cow it had slaughtered to instead feel the thrill of the chase against a more bipedal creature.

Silas was the only one in his family that had been bitten by the creature before it was chased off. He would have bled out were it not for his youngest brother who, amid the commotion, dragged his bloody body to safety and quickly patched him up as good as he knew how. The incident shook the entire family, and all of them agreed to keep silent about it. Everyone except Silas.

Shaken and desperate for answers, Silas became fearful and irrational during his recovery. After a while of careful deliberation, his family decided to have him move to London to recieve better care for both his physical and mental injuries over the incident. He would be living in a city for the first time, but was assured he would not be alone. His eldest sister had married and left the family some years ago for the city, and Silas would be living with her to hopefully be reassured by a change of scenery and be tended to by more capable hands.

Chapter Two

Sheeps Clothing 22/10/1874 - 15/11/1874

His stay with his sister was pleasant at first. Agnes Corbett was a kind but strong woman, who was a lighthouse amid a storm for the two men that lived around her. While her husband, Frederick, was not as enthused to have Silas haunting their halls, he was quickly swayed by Agnes' love for her baby brother and Silas was allowed to rest fitfully in a guest bedroom in their home.

Things did not remain calm and peaceful for long. It only took a few weeks for Silas' mental condition to decline sharper than it had in the rocky hills of Devon. Silas' sleep every night was filled to the brim with nightmares that inevitably lead to Agnes waking him with a cool cloth to his forehead while Frederick stands glowering at him from the doorway for disturbing their rest. Silas would see the wolf-like creature every time he closed his eyes, and would often see shadows of unholy creatures in the alleyways of London when they were not there.

Agnes, in her infinite love for her baby brother, insisted that Frederick and herself keep helping Silas through this time. As his mental condition worsened to the point of paranoia and even violence, however, she found herself more inclined to have Silas be sent away to an institution. Agnes said as much when she and Frederick were sure her disturbed brother was asleep. Except, Silas hadn't been, and overheard his sister and her husband "plotting" to send him away one full moon's night.

Chapter Three

Fugitive 16/11/1874 - undecided

It took exactly 26 days for Silas to get from England to the United States. 26 restless days that Silas hardly found sleep through. He arrived in North America on the 12th of December of 1874, exhausted and hopeless. His mad dash to get out of England to evade capture was a thoughtless action, and would only lead him to more trouble...

In a desperate attempt to evade any sort of identification or capture, Silas slowly made his way to the Utah territory of the United States. Full moons never got any easier for him, and each time he would drive himself farther and farther from humanity in his mental decline. It was on one fateful night that he met someone not unlike him one full moon.

Bleeding from wounds and tangled up in bear traps, even Silas's moon-mad brain knew he was very likely to die that night. It was only destiny itself that allowed him to survive long enough for another were-creature to keep him company. The creature looked less like a wolf and more like a fox, but Silas would later learn it was a werecoyote. The other cursed individual slowly and carefully freed him from the bear traps and led the other injured were-creature into a barn to last out the rest of the night.

His story truly begins the morning after that fateful full moon, in the care of a mysterious werecoyote who was kind enough to free him from the clutches of death.

Family

Parents Juliet Roan
Alexander Wilburn

Siblings Agnes Corbett
Edith Wilburn
Joseph Wilburn

In-Laws Frederick Corbett

Nieces & Nephews Flora Corbett

The Wilburns are a rather isolated family. Alexander was, by all accounts, a surprising change of pace for the lineage. When his parents died quickly and suddenly, he was forced to face the choice of either ending the bloodline with himself or going out to find someone to marry. Juliet was more than suitable, and they settled down to continue the Wilburn family line with 4 children and the hopes of many more grandchildren.

Wilburns have been farmers for centuries, primarily focusing on livestock and orchards for their sources of food and income. Wilburns tend to be strong, stoic, quiet, but patient and kind all the same. It was with Juliet's arrival that Wilburn kin began to grow more rowdy and bold.
