Saga was raised since infancy to become an archivist and dedicated her entire life to learning the way; her parents even edited her genetics in the womb to make her a better candidate...

Saga grew up in Memory's Reach, a mixed-species colony of archivists who dedicate their lives to recording history in real-time. It's every archivist's dream to record something of great importance, something that will be remembered for decades or even centuries. Since the day she was born, it was Saga's purpose; she received a strict education and was rarely allowed to socialise unless it was to further that education. At age five, she received her first genetweak and surgery to implant a talkbox in her throat, to better help her speak alien languages.

By the time she was fifteen, Saga had become disillusioned with her life - forced to undergo surgery and genetweaks, never allowed to be herself. She tried to escape off-planet with her best friend, but the ship crashed and Valen died. Her family's response was to try and "fix" her, scheduling her for more surgeries and gene treatments. After that, Saga cut all ties with her family all together.

Years later, she was hired as a linguist on the Wayfarer, and found a family with them.
