Born in a rural village to an Inkling couple, Alex was an only child for about five years before his mother, Nickie Cutefish, gave birth to his younger sister, Annie. Their mother died in the process, which turned out to be the final straw in their father's mounting stress. He became neglectful of both of them, putting all his effort and care into his shop, which he only allowed Alex access to. His sister ran away once she became 15, essentially abandoning him.

He lived with his father for two more years before moving out himself, getting a job as a technical engineer and settling down in an apartment by himself. About a year after that, he and Annie reunited and agreed to let her have a room in the apartment. Despite this arrangement, the two rarely - if ever - see each other due to her traveling for her job.

At some point, stumbled upon the Golden Circle - an underground agency that seeks to inject its own sense of justice into the world - after finding Ilse stationed in his apartment as a result of a mix-up. More specifically, He'd been handed a secret Golden Circle file by Jack, who'd assumed that his single gold ring earring meant he was one of their agents. He lured Ilse out by purposefully leaving out food, eventually befriending her over the course of her assigned time there.

Being an "interesting" subspecies and harboring an "interesting" Octoling eventually got him some unwanted attention- namely from a woman named Dr. Lovelle Euclid. The pair were kidnapped and brought to Gemini Labs, where Ilse was contained and Alex was offered a role as Lovelle's assistant, though he wouldn't be spared being experimented on himself. Alex accepted with the intent to betray her. He eventually did, calling the Golden Circle to the Labs and freeing himself, Penn, Ilse, and Jeremy. He also inadvertently "freed" Snake Eyes, who appreciates it a lot less.

Impressed by Alex's actions, Cupid extended an invitation to become an actual Agent at the Golden Circle.

From then on, Alex continues to be an Agent at the Golden Circle. He gets a bit more confident and eventually moves into a proper house with Ilse after they get married and have four kids. (Their kids are Andreas, Beast 2, Beast 3, and Beast 4.) Alex also continues his work as a technical engineer and even helps out the Squidbeak Splatoon a bit more often.

• The spots on Alex's skin are not optional and glow in the dark. His tentacles do as well.
• Annie occasionally asks him to upgrade one of her weapons, but he never says yes.
• Originally was created 1/21/2018 by syprisvipers and posted by me on deviantart. He's since gone through about two redesigns and is my most drawn character by a large margin.
• Alex is very uninterested in combat, thus he is inexperienced and not too good by default. He doesn't even own a weapon, though he may occasionally borrow the Hero Shot/Hero Shot Replica from Annie if they're in danger.
• Hates the feeling of having his hair up in a topknot
• Being a firefly inkling, he has a certain sensitivity to electrical currents. His accuracy is at its strongest when he touches the source.

• Codename is Agent Midori Sour within the Golden Circle, often shortened to just "Sour". Cupid picked it purely out of irony.

• He likes to speedrun games, accidentally getting World Records but not knowing because he doesn't look up or upload WR videos
• Has a seemingly random ability to sense the location of invisible Mimic Octolings, discovered when he accidentally found Ilse in his apartment.
• He runs a youtube channel somewhat similar to Dankpods where he records himself both reviewing and taking apart gadgets and machinery. His audience is mainly Octolings, fittingly.
