Briar (Zora)

Briar was a member of the Forbidden Sea, serving under Hades as one of the guards of the cybele Nichi. When she was young her mother killed her father for trying to leave them, telling her that love was pointless and relationships were only as good as they were useful. She was raised to serve their fallen cybele ruler, her mother hoping she'd find a high status role and a husband of equal status. 

Later in life she fell hard for a Hylian pirate, who offered her a chance to escape from her family and fate. She wanted to leave with him, but torn between loyalty to her upbringing and her own heart. Her hesitation led her mother to him, and she killed him. In return Briar attack and killed her mother. Afterwards she did exactly as her mother wanted and served Hades for a few years.

During that time Nichi and her fellow guard befriended her. Nichi in particular did his best to convince her that she could be a better person, and deserved a chance at a happier life. After his escape she offered to track him down, which she did, but rather than turn him in she served as his guard and kept him safe until she later left him inland to bring word to his sister.

In her late life she serves a village that worships Nichi's sister, the kraken, and married her shrine guardian Aster.
