Sammy is anything but a good person, but a good person, is all you will see. You see it in the way he smiles at you, like you’re the only one there, in the way he’ll stop and drop a 30 into the busker’s hat, walking away before they can even start a thanks. You don’t notice that his eyes are looking past you instead of at you, or how he’s looking back as he walks away, just to make sure you caught him doing it.

Even if you did notice a falter in his smile, why would you bring it up to him? Because lord knows Sam Novak has gone through trenches and ditches and alleys of trauma, of rags and of scraps. So is the corner of his smile ever so dropped because it’s faux? Or because he's just not used to being happy and smiling, it’s still all so new to him. So why don’t you comfort him instead?
