Chaisson knew that sacrifice was necessary to achieve his dream of stardom. However, as a child, he was unaware of what he would give up to fit in the entertainment industry's already slim idea of the perfect man, the perfect celebrity. Coming from nothing, he signed his soul away to a top entertainment agency that assigned him a calm, rational personality to match his silky, peacock persona: one opposite to his true self. 

After years of abuse from the industry and his dreams continuously crushed by the reality of suppressing his true self, he snapped on live television. His smooth, eloquent personality was quickly drowned out by years of rage at his abusive manager, audience, and fellow entertainers who sought to walk over his softer persona. He tore into Jaymer, one of the world's most popular reality TV show hosts and one that thoroughly (perhaps, rightfully) hated him for being a two-faced act. 

Jaymer, of course, knew his words would shake Chaisson. He poked at the man's sister and his upbringing. He wanted to cause unrest in Chaisson because he disliked his sort, but he had no idea how far his guest would snap under pressure. He almost felt guilty, and he was a man with little conscience. 

Chaisson left the set, thinking his career was finished. Everything he worked towards would crumble. His personality was rotten, partially because his true self never had a chance to grow and flourish into a more calm, rational person. His agency quickly terminated his contract, thinking nothing of the ten years of Hell they'd dragged him through. He should have known they would never protect him, even if he had a near-perfect track record. He wasn't profitable enough. He knew that, but it still stung.

Truthfully, he wasn't sure if he should feel relieved, but a part of him still held onto the idea of being an entertainer. It was a promise he'd made to his dearly departed sister and one he'd made to himself. 

 It was all he had. He had nothing else.

Chaisson quickly gave up the persona, but he neared the verge, slightly unhinged from the pressure and the years of build-up. Although he intended to crawl into the industry, spitting at those who hurt him, he had no way of knowing how his outburst and unleashed personality would affect his new solo career. Truthfully, the clean image his previous agency assigned him was almost... unrelatable to most. He was clearly a corporate implant, and it made him boring to watch. Although far less marketable, the real him, the slightly maddened man, was far more interesting, and the suffering he'd shared in his live outburst captured many.

In a way, Chaisson saved himself by losing his previous agency or, rather, his biggest opportunity to reach the top. However, unleashing his true self may have given him a second chance no one could have predicted was possible. That is, of course, if he can play his cards right and forge a place in the entertainment world for someone as uncouth and unfit as himself.
