Luanari Naïloshnee

Luanari was born and raised in the secluded elven nation of Sofyl, where they stayed until they struck out on their own around age 100. They wanted to see what else the world had to offer- and they loved it. It was so much more than the rigid, conservative life that they'd had back home, and Luanari wanted to keep living with this exciting new freedom...mostly through partying and making questionable choices with their sex life. They met Xostraz'zt in Phalla's capital, where he was masquerading as a human noble to cause chaos (mostly for shits and giggles, but bringing some political unrest was a nice side effect), and Luanari couldn't resist flirting with someone so attractive and influential- ie, a bad idea. He was more than happy to have an elf on his side and someone exciting in his bed, and thus began their on again/off again relationship.

Inevitably, the truth of Xostra's identity came out. Luanari was pissed that he wasn't what he said he was, but the fact that he was something much more dangerous - a full-fledged demon - was too tempting for them to pass up. However, it did lead to an explosive magical fight between Luanari and Xostra, and forever changed the dynamic of their relationship. While Luanari had never intended for him to be anything more than an occasional hookup, they found themselves in and out of Xostra's bed (and schemes) on a fairly regular basis anyway.

After over a century of fucking around together, someone messed up and Luanari ended up pregnant. They weren't responsible enough to realize this until it was too late to do anything about it, and so they had a son, Varis. Xostra took one look at the situation and ditched the fake life he was living in Crescen at the time, leaving Luanari to deal with their mistake alone. They knew they weren't fit to take care of a kid - mostly because being selfless and giving up fun sounded like a total bummer - so Luanari decided to return to Sofyl and leave Varis to be raised by their parents. All parents want to have grandkids, right? Unfortunately, this didn't work out the way they expected. Luanari's parents called Varis a monstrosity that shouldn't exist - for being a half-elf; the other half being demon didn't help but didn't really make it worse - and told Luanari to abadnon him in the woods so that nature could take its course. Disgusted by their parents' attitude, Luanari decided to raise Varis themselves.

Luanari returned to Crescen to raise Varis, taking advantage of Xostra's life in the capital to live comfortably- until the money inevitably ran out, and they had to track Xostra down for more. Luanari tried to take care of Varis at first, but they felt weighed down by the responsibility of being a parent and wanted to have their freedom again. They sent Varis off to a well-established wizard school and immediately went back to traveling and making irresponsible life choices, confident that Varis would live a good life. Luanari wrote to him on and off and visited even less frequently, but they're flaky at best when it comes to following through on things. Visits and letters almost ceased as Varis got older because while Luanari means well, they just aren't cut out to be a good parent.

These days, Luanari is living in Athain with Xostraz'zt - it's one of their "on again" times - posing as his partner at the fancy, official events he's invited to as a "high ranking government official". While Xostra has some sort of political chaos scheme going, Luanari is just along for the ride- for now.
