Tikal is an ancient god who resides on an isolated tropical island; he has lived there for centuries and managed to avoid conflict and persecution as a result of the island's remote location. Eccentric and magical in appearance as he may be, he is an entirely pacifistic and gentle being. He is full of wisdom and compassion for all forms of life, and is both friendly and protective towards the island's inhabitants. However, he is all too aware of his immortality and the temporary nature of his connections to others, so he maintains emotional distance from those around him to avoid heartbreak on either end. Very few individuals are fully aware of his status as a god, as he is often intentionally vague regarding his abilities and origin, and he genuinely enjoys keeping the mystery; he finds the reactions of others endearing. This is the closest thing to mischief the guy can achieve, as he typically shies away from risks and excitement, fearing that any indulgence may bring harm to the more vulnerable mortals surrounding him. While not entirely a worrywart, he's been considered a killjoy or boring, and his strong vocabulary and eloquent speech from centuries of life don't exactly help him out. Comprised almost entirely of natural elements, Tikal's body stays together through some form of unseen magic. The sand he's made of doesn't appear to shed, and the items placed around his body can shift in location and appearance with or without his knowledge. His tail is a stream and appears as though it's constantly running, but it all stays in one place and leaves no remnants. It always has at least 2-3 tropical fish in it, which can change randomly or according to his thoughts and feelings; clownfish, for whatever reason, being the most common. His ossicones, which resemble small trees, can sprout more coconuts when he's feeling strong positive emotions, and they will occasionally fall off without harming him. While he does not know the true extent of his abilities, he has a general control/influence over the island and its inhabitants, and is able to directly manipulate ocean currents as well as engage in unspoken communication with the wildlife.

While usually calm and controlled in the presence of other beings, Nessie's mere existence has thrown Tikal for a loop, and he's frequently floundering while trying to compose himself before her. Having supposedly created her, he's been doing his best to teach her the ways of the island and manage her powers, but she's far more of a free spirit than he accounted for, and he doesn't have the heart to keep her in check as well as he'd like. The simple truth is that he's in complete awe of her, and his personal feelings are interfering with his tasks.
