Bearstar's mother died when Bearstar was just six moons old, and her father was an unknown Kittypet.

Bearstar as a Warrior named Bearblood was mates with a tom named Pumaleaf. Unfortunately, he died five moons before she became Leader when Rubblestar retired.

About five or six moons after becoming Leader, Bearstar began being plagued by visions of the same thing: birds singing over a bloody battlefield. Herself, Mossypaw, and Greymint interpreted this that Quailsong was to be the nest Deputy after Dogleg's sudden death after a Gathering.

Life when on, and Bearstar lost some of her lives in battles or to sickness. Eventually, when she was on her last life, she was murdered by the vengeful Acidrain.

She didn't give Quailstar a life, giving her slot to Bouldermane. However, she did attend the ceremony.
