Will Anderson

Fun fact: Will existed solely in my head for many years and started out as my take on a vague character in an anime spinoff novel. he's had a lot of growth but I always was nervous to truly create him...well, here he is! His partner, Abel, is receiving a revamp at the moment as well.

Things to note:

-In his normal form, his eyes are naturally brown, they're not contacts
-Nobody but Abel gets to call him William. If anyone else does there will be hell to pay
-If he gets emotional (angry etc) or hurt, his eyes may change to his demon form out of his control, but he's worked hard on control of it over the years
-He was born part human part demon as far as he knows, he's been that way as long as he can remember
-Spreading his wings is not an easy process. It tears skin and bone each time and it's bloody. However when he folds his wings back into his back, the wound heals quickly and he is left with the scars pictured in the ref on his back
-He always has his hair either partially or completely tied back with the ribbon in his hair. It was the first gift Abel ever gave him, so it's very important to him. When it gets damaged Abel can use restoration magic to fix it
-The pendant he wears is clear quartz and it has Abel's magic locked into it with the purpose to keep Will cool headed so he doesn't unwillingly go into his demon form
-Will is, other than the clear quartz keeping him human in appearance, hot headed. He'll willingly seek fights and is seen in bandages often
-He never willingly paints his own nails, Abel always does it. It makes Abel happy, so he doesn't mind. His nails are usually painted either black or red

-The Reaper's Society-

Sometimes, a living human's time is up. Everyone has a countdown assigned to them from birth ticking down to their destined death. Them dying when that countdown hits zero is the natural order of things and necessary to keep the world in balance. However some souls are aggressive and stubborn, and refuse to die when their time is up. This is where Reapers come in...if the world can't naturally kill them, Reapers will. It is also the duty of Reapers to help mourning, angry, or lost souls move on to their next Path and leave the life they're tied to behind. This creates two divisions: Morte and Flow. As you can guess the Morte division kills stubborn souls, and Flow helps souls move on. Will is assigned to the Morte division and is very valuable to the Society as he wields a Death Scythe, a magical weapon with the ability to kill any living thing no matter how supernatural it is. The addition of the Scythe makes the Society able to help other organizations dedicated to keeping the supernatural world at bay to keep humans at peace.

At 23, despite being part demon, Will's countdown ended. Being angry, a Reaper showed to finish him off. He fought hard and fell ultimately to the Reaper-after all, Will is part human, too. He then was a ravaged soul and got lost not on Earth, but in what Will describes as an empty purgatory where souls attack and feed off of each other. his memories of that time are blurry, but he remembers discovering the Scythe, and fighting hard with other souls to obtain it. Victorious, he wandered the purgatory unchallenged for a while before the same Reaper who killed him showed before him and recruited him into the Reaper's Society.

Not really easily, though. Will was very uneasy and not interested. Too much work, and why help the ones who killed him? But then he was shown Abel, still on Earth. Abel had kept it from Will, but Abel was blessed by the Angels when he was young and given Pure status. He could not use magic, but he was a target of evil supernatural beings, and in danger. The Reaper's Society made a deal with Will that if he join them, the Society would guarantee Abel's safety. There was one catch, though...he would become immortal, and not age past 23. He would become immune to all disease and heal from wounds much quicker than humans.

Feeling like he had no choice since Abel was so heavily targeted, he joined the Society and became immortal. After making the deal he woke up in the middle of the woods back on Earth and after a bit of time, was reunited with Abel, who thought he was dead.

-Will and Abel-

These two grew up together as they were both orphaned in the same city and abandoned the system, wandering the streets. They kept each other safe. Will had a hard time controlling his powers when he was young. He hurt, and even accidentally killed, other people out of pure anger. He and Abel hopped from town to town to keep safe, along with Abel keeping the secret of being Pure and being hunted. As they grew older, they fell in love very quickly. They saw a lot of homophobia in the world, but all they ever had was each other, so the love was natural to them. Over time Abel coached Will and taught him more tranquil thinking so he could stay out of fights and control his powers. However shortly before Will died, he lost complete control and gave into his demon side when he found out his birth mother had committed suicide. He even lashed out at Abel, who had to flee to stay safe. After that, he felt the moment Will died due to the two, unknowingly, sharing a distinct Soul Bond. Abel felt the blow of this Bond due to him being Pure.

Abel and Will originally had a 5 year age gap. Between the time Will died and when the Reapers brought him back, a year had passed in the real world. It took a few months for Will to find Abel again. After 2 years of heavy conflict, Will reluctantly agreed to also make Abel immortal. The Angels knew this but instead of punishing Abel for being with a dark being such as Will, they blessed him with magical abilities. To Abel, this was a huge advantage and opportunity to do good in the world. However to the Angels, it's simply for him to keep Will in line.

Now to other immortals, Will and Abel are known, and labeled as Fresh Blood (immortals who are less than a century old). Any issues they have where they have to address other immortals aren't taken very seriously, and they are seen as children. It's rough, but as always, the two have each other and that's what counts. they became aware of their Soul Bond when Will agreed to make Abel immortal. They traveled to visit other immortals and discovered the ritual can only be done between two beings who share a Soul Bond. It is a very long, stressful, and exhausting ritual, and must be done alone between the two beings with no supervision. It's always a dangerous ritual, and Abel barely made it. However beforehand the other immortals were confident he'd come through, so Will and Abel went ahead with the ritual. Now...they have nothing but time.

-Home-

Being immortal and having wings gives a lot of time and space to travel. With Will's past and Abel always being hunted, the two needed to find a refuge from the rest of the world, a place they can stay when not working for their respective Societies. After some time they found a small island, very far away from any civilization, completely untouched by humans. The two built their new home from scratch, building an insulated cabin, and a stone path to the beach where Abel likes to paint. Beside the cabin is a small patch for growing vegetables, and behind the cabin they worked for years to grow an orchard that grows apples, oranges, and peaches. The only meat that can be hunted on their island is rabbit and a few types of bird, and they are careful they don't harm the ecosystem the animals have. They also eat a lot of fish. This island is their safe haven, a place they can retreat to when things in human society or with work get too rough.
